Lost to Semenholes in the CCSA Championship but still highly ranked at #5. Moving on to Gulf Shores for the NCAA championships. They will play Pepperdine on Friday.
LSU had a great 1st day. Defeated Pepperdine and Stetson. Now the unfortunate news… they will be playing UCLA tomorrow. The bruins are the number 2 seed and they looked really good today. One of the bruins, Van Winkle, is somebody I know. Her mom was a 2 time national champion as an indoor player and although she's a Bruin, her dad was a USC dentist and knew my dad. They actually have 3 daughters. The middle one Tessa played softball when my daughter did. The dad was a coach and probably one of the least liked coaches in the area. We played them one year for the league championship and they totally expected to win. Our girls played out of their minds and ended up winning. Coach Van Winkle tried to protest the game claiming that the winning run, who was my daughter, had left 1st base early. Too bad so sad it didn't work.
