The ref called it as a holding penalty, and that was correct. You were right to be disappointed, because it negated a huge Beckham return. Took us from the 35 (I think) back to around the 5. It only looked bad because Kirkpatrick went to the ground and smacked his head. The outrage of the Bama fans is... well, they're Bama fans.
Agree about the entire defensive game plan being stopping or limiting Richardson. If Bama can't get Richardson going, they don't stand a chance. My only fear is the passes out of the backfield. We need to spy the dude coming out and cover him with an LB at all times. LSU 23, Alabama 9 Yes, they kick 3 successful FGs.
My concern is that there were several times Richardson ran to the flat or ran free and absolutely no one was around him. He's their ENTIRE offense. I don't know why we wouldn't have a spy on him all night long.
Those were pick plays. Not illegal but the LB is rubbed off by a WR running a crossing route. Hopefully Chief has a counter Jan 9
To my knowledge, Chief has never utilized a spy. Actually, it's very rare for defenses to do so, despite fans thinking it is a good move. The main thing we have going for us is the fact that we won't have Hatcher in the game much, which should help a lot.
GOSPEL TRUTH Limit the big plays and we're good ... TR gets maybe 75 yards this game rushing and a whole lot less passing! That score seems sorta familiar :thumb: And then you woke up:hihi:
How will the linebackers respond on defense and can we get Alabama on 3rd and long so we can play 6 db's. When LSU has an opponent 3rd and long, Chavis will use Taylor, Reid, Brooks, Simon, Claiborne, and Mathieu, that is f'n scary. This defense gives up yards at times but it's almost like they feed on that, and when the stakes are high, they are at their best. Damn I'm ready.
Mos' ditto-ness. I'm watching the replay on espnU right now and I feel more and more confident about tomorrow night.:LSU231:
