Personally I wouldn't want to play Alabama again, just don't like them, I think we will beat them again but I would really want to play a new opponent. The scenario I would like to happen would for Oregon to lose to Oregon State and then Stanford would make the Pac championship and hopefully they beat up on USC and boost to number 2.
Vtech and Stanford need to lose so Okie St can be positioned 3rd in the human polls going into that final game on Dec 3rd. Stanford I think will lose to Notre Dame. VaTech could easily lose to Virginia on the road or to Clemson again. But it needs to happen against Virginia, so that Okie State is 3rd BEFORE they play OU. Then and only then can the voters even consider that jump over Bama. But if Okie State is still 5th, then no way they jump them all the way to 2nd. Their computer polls will be 2nd best in the nation to only LSU with the win over OU. That won't be their problem.
People, There is NO BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP this year. The defection of Nebraska and Colorado last year zapped it. The OU/OSU game on Dec 3 is last regular season game for them.
He didn't say that. He said even if they win the conference championship (not conference championship game). Okie State, with a win over OU, will be undisputed conference champions. Which is very meaningful when speaking about an Alabama who didn't win their conference.
Yeah, but we might be talking about Auburn having to beat Bama, which would be close to Pitt upsetting WVU back in 07. Actually that's the biggest thing probably keeping an Okie State, Stanford or VTech from getting there is that mammoth of an upset. So in that sense, you're correct. There is some history of this happening. Pitt and WVU have the backyard brawl just like Bama/Auburn have the Iron Bowl. Players give all they got in this contest, no doubt. They live for this game above all others on their schedule.
Actually, there is no final Harris poll after the BCSCG. The winner is given the BCSNC trophy. That is who the civilized world considers the NC. Here are some questions. Why don't people realize that there is a playoff system? Is it not a two team playoff? Why would it be so much better to have an 8 team playoff? In an eight team playoff, there will still be a subjective seeding and the 9th best team will whine about being left out. And with an eight team playoff the best team is more likely not to win the trophy. Why? Because of injuries and turnovers. It comes down to an interesting question. Do you want the two teams that played the best throughout the year to play on the field for the NC, or do you want to see which team is lucky enough to win a small tourney to win the trophy? I like the system, but of course, I breath Purple and live Gold!
I think both Va Tech and Okie St have legitimate shots at making the NC game, mostly based on the fact that they could win their conferences. That carries a lot of credit with voters. Bama sitting on the couch on Dec 3 will hurt them. I think it will be more difficult for Va Tech given that the computer polls DO NOT like them at all. The Pokes could very easily jump Bama if they can woo voters with an impressive win over Chokelahoma. The computers love the Pokes, and despite their loss to Iowa St they still have them ranked above Bama. I would really like to see this matchup.
Va Tech has played an awful (awful easy) schedule. The only decent team they played, Clemson, beat them by 20. I just don't see how they deserve a spot in the NC game even over a 2-loss Oregon or Oklahoma team.
