Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight. I hope I don't have nightmares hearing Bob Davie or Lou Holtz's voice in my dreams. Good night TIGERS!
I know it was the first game and hopefully, it's not a sign of things to come, but I really saw no improvement from the D over last year. If anything, they were worse. No pressure on the QB, missed tackles, and couldn't get Wash off the field on 3rd down for anything. Offense was too inconsistent. I don't think we completed but one pass down field. Everything else was thrown to the side lines and the athletic ability of the WR took over. We had 3 plays tonight. CS up the middle, the option, and the QB draw. Again, I know it's only the 1st game, but after last year and the off season build up, our expectations were for so much more.
I'm happy. It was a win on the road against a really pumped up opponent. Also, as it turns out, they had a lot more practice time allowed. We DO have to find something besides "Scott up the middle". Seems like everyone is ready for that play. I was surprised at how slow and tired the Tigers appeared to be, esp the D, though they were on the field a lot - and I know that's their own fault. Still, a win on the road is a good win. We're used to opening at home against a true cupcake. I think Locker is a pretty darn good QB - and maybe our expectations were a bit high. But a win is a win. Ask Oklahoma or VT. :geaux:
