varies greatly. upwards of $300 though. some more than that. but as long as you don’t “outgrow it” it’ll last forever. wood? roughly about $75-$100 for a good one. might last one pitch.
I haven't been one of the get rid of CPM crowd but after today..... I watched the game with my wife. She used to coach softball some back in the day. She was screaming at the tv for CPM to change pitchers. Not once but twice. And both times, leaving them in cost LSU big time. If this bull pen doesn't get fixed it's gonna be a long tour in the SEC
had to be Vietmeier and George. problem is there isn’t enough arms (on any team) to just constantly have someone ready at all times. So if a guy immediately starts getting rocked, you have no choice but to leave him in until someone IS ready to go. this ain’t little league where you just bring in your SS who’s been warm all game to pitch. you gotta get a guy that’s ice cold on bench up and loose and throwing.
Because if the virus rosters have been expanded to 35 players. LSU has 18 pitchers on the roster. With all those arms somebody should be able to pitch a few good innings of middle relief.
oh i’m not excusing the bullpen’s performance. they’ve been crap lately. i just saying why you don’t always have a guy already up, loose and ready to go in when the drama starts.
So I finally caught a game on TV, late in the 8th inning. Second game, to only see UTSA score until they tie it. I watched until they were up in the 10th. I turned it off, as I assumed I am just horrible luck. To only have that confirmed this morning, we won... Fan logic 101
That's the biggest thing my wife was yelling about. No one throwing, no one ready. She was dissing CPM pretty hard.
without knowing the exact situation she's discussing, i'm still going to say she's probably wrong. still assuming it was Vietmeier and George we're discussing. going into the game, Vietmeier had given up one hit all season. so you're not going to have anyone else warming. you're going to trust that he'll continue to do well. Even after giving up a knock to first batter, again you're still not going to immediately throw another guy up in the pen to get ready. no manager would. *with the exception of if you're planing on swapping handedness of pitcher due to specific matchup with next batter. Same with Aaron George. He hadn't given up a single run all year prior to Sunday game. So again, you're not going to have any one warming up immediately. Why would you? A guy like George, you have enough confidence in that you wouldn't even get a guy up and throwing until at least a few guys smoked him. If you start yanking guys as soon as they give up 1 hit, you'll blow through every arm you have by midway through game 2 of a series.
there is plenty of reason to do so, i just don't think this instance is one (again guessing we're talking about same spots).
