Assuming UCLA wears their blues, jersey-wise, this will be the best looking game in college football history.
I believe in O more than Fisher/Smart. I hated our OL coach and we brought in a high dollar replacement who seems well respected. I did not love the OC combo last year and am really excited about our new guy. Play calling can make everyone look better. Add to that a fairly seasoned QB who has it between the ears. I expect our skill players to excel in this offense. I feel less confident in the D - feels like we took a flier. This guy has good pedigree and I think he’s hungry and eager to prove himself, which is already an improvement from last year. But how academic/intuitive will our D be? I’m also concerned that Stingley has big head. If so, I hope he’s at least playing up for his money year. I’d also like to see O’s buddy do better on the offensive/defensive components of the return game. Think we’re good at kicker, but didn’t we lose van oldberg at punter? Hope we got a solid replacement.
Can our DC keep this dude from picking up yards with his legs? If so, I might get excited for the season.
All good points. I think we’ve improved the coaching staff across the board, but this is the 1st game for all of them. Tonight’s performance is not indicative of who they’re going to end up being. Still excited to see what they have for us. Especially Peetz and Mangus. Yes, VonRosenberg is gone, which is a shame because he could have came back and he didn’t make the league. Now he’s on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge watching every practice when he could be playing for the Tigers. We signed a high caliber punter (Peyton Todd) but evidently not high caliber enough because I’m hearing Avery Atkins our kick off specialist will be punting for us. My biggest concern is o-line. All camp they were banged up and never really had a chance to gel and play together. UCLA’s front 7 looks to be fast and aggressive. Picking up blitz packages will be key. After that, it’s defense. I have to see it to believe it. Each week last year I “assumed” our talent would take over and we would adjust and correct, but it continued to be horrendous. Some Tidbits. UCLA returns 20 starters from last year. But off a 3-4 team. LSU returns 18 starters from last year. But off a 5-5 team. Both teams lost some games they should have won last year. I like that LSU didn’t hang it up and finished the season strong. I think this team is pissed off, feels disrespected and plays with something to prove.
I think is where the Clemson transfer Mike Jones Jr. coming from Nickel to LB is key. He has the speed to spy and stay with their mobile QB.
Thank You Kirk Herbstreit for picking against the Tigers. Not only picking against LSU but saying “we lose the game and because of it, we lose the team” Let’s see how this team responds. Fuck these talking heads, I’m tired of the talking. Let’s play some football and shut these fuckers up! And Roman Harper is a bama homer bitch!
