Re: LSU vs. Troy Posponed till Nov. 15 (As Per FoxSports) I think you're right. Is this a season ending blow to LSU? No. But it would have been nicer to have this bye after Alabama than after App. State. Btw, it's official that it will be postponed. Re: LSU vs. Troy Posponed till Nov. 15 (As Per FoxSports) How many of the options were feasible and practical? The logistics required to pull it off in 80 hours would be one hell of a challenge.
Re: LSU vs. Troy Posponed till Nov. 15 (As Per FoxSports) That's what I'm screamin'. The game was going to happen in Tiger Stadium or not at all. It's disappointing because we've all been building up to this since the CWS ended, but some things are more important right now. Hell, it gives us a good excuse for not winning the NC. Georgia should be so lucky.
Re: LSU vs. Troy Posponed till Nov. 15 (As Per FoxSports) You telling me that the potential that a Hurricane could hit BR and possibly effect LSU football has NEVER been discussed in the past? The only way they'd have to pull this off in 80 hours is if the people running LSU were completely incompetent. I personally don't believe that. A good AD would have an established plan before every season starts, incase a hurricane or some other natural disaster hits and they'd be able to enact it almost immediately. I personally think we have a good AD. Hence, they should be able to pull something like this off rather easily.
Re: LSU vs. Troy Posponed till Nov. 15 (As Per FoxSports) hopefully, most understand and agree this is what needs to be done. its disappointing, but in the sense of "freakin hurricane". however, no disagreement here that the community and citizens come first.
Re: LSU vs. Troy Posponed till Nov. 15 (As Per FoxSports) exactly. ' lets look at the flip side of this. we could have had an opponent that was NOT willing to work with lsu in rescheduling and made life very difficult. troy and lsu came to what appears to be a rather easy agreement on rescheduling. lets all be thankful there WILL be a game, even if in november.
Re: LSU vs. Troy Posponed till Nov. 15 (As Per FoxSports) All agree, it's a little disappointing. One positive is, maybe this will give Miles more time with the QB's to work on passing. Maybe it was good that they could play a live game, get some exp. under their belts, and now they can go hammer out some of the flaws that were spotted. Plus, we still do get another tuner game before Auburn. I don't think a whole lot would change between week 2 and week 3. There's no real way to prepare for the SEC other than getting out there and playing SEC teams. What would 1 extra start while rolling over a team do? I guess we'll look forward to NT on Sept. 13th. :geaux:
Re: LSU vs. Troy Posponed till Nov. 15 (As Per FoxSports) I think the point is that it does not matter how much you plan - you cannot cover everything. A large portion of Baton Rouge and the south Louisiana area have some pretty bad damage and will be without power for several days, maybe even weeks. This includes many of the players familys, many students and their familys and lots of fans who may be a little preoccupied this weekend and probably would not have been inclined to travel to the game in Baton Rouge or Troy. Not to mention Gustav's effect on things like hotels, motels, service stations, police departments, state troopers and the availability or non-availability of many services we take for granted when we go to Baton Rouge for a game weekend. I would love to see us get another game in this weekend for the experience for the younger players, but all things considered, I think it was the right move. ldskule:
Re: LSU vs. Troy Posponed till Nov. 15 (As Per FoxSports) I also doubt there was anything else we could do. Remember the '05 season? Our first home game of the year was postoned until October. Our second home game ended up in Arizona. Our third game of the year was a Monday night debacle. We were a month into the season before we played two games. And, yes, that hurt us that year. By the Arkansas game, we'd run out of gas. By the UGA game, there was absolutely nothing left but fumes. Then, we went out and handed Miami the worst beating they'd ever received. Our season may be one we go through to get to next year. But it's too soon to know. Regardless, from all reports out of Baton Rouge, it doesn't sound like LSU could possibly have played a game at Tiger Stadium this Saturday. It is what it is--and I love LSU football as much as anyone else here. It was not a bad decision; it seems it was a necessary one. FWIW, I seriously doubt our team has been able to adequately practice this week. How would we feel if a game was forced...and...we...lost...to...Troy?
