It looks like Dungey's out. I think it's going to be a platoon system (like it needs to be any more difficult) with Wilson and Mahoney. Not saying it doesn't look good (just listen to some local sports talk…already buried us), but I hope it's a good one.
I don't think it looks good. And I am not just being an LSU homer. But anytime you are playing Musical QB against a defense like ours, it usually makes for a very long day. If you have a QB with wheels, I would stick with him. Running QB's usually give LSU fits. Although Dak Prescott had negative 19 yards rushing against us 2 weeks ago.
Be careful about expectations, amigo, esp. w/CLM as HC. I seem to remember a day game coached by CLM in a dome against one Greenie football team that we were expected to win by 30, but had to rally in the second half and hang on for the win. We all read things and get psyched, but Syracuse is likely a proud football team, will be playing in their stadium, and they will come out to win. If you expect us to win a reasonably close game, and we come out and blow them away then you will be even more impressed than if they won exactly as you predicted. If, God forbid, they lost it, it's tougher to swallow with super high expectations going in to the game. I don't see us losing, btw, just making a point.
I don't expect a close game but if it is I won't be surprised. If the players have been watching their own highlights on Sports Center all week they could be thinking all they have to do is show up.
I hear you, and I always try and stay humble. I am a little over pumped right now, I agree. I think there may be a chance we see some lag early after last week. Its an early game, east coast, on the road, coming off an emotional win. Syracuse is undefeated, playing with a lot of pride right now. I certainly do not expect Syracuse to lay down. I would give them much better chances at the upset if their QB didn't get hurt last week. Statistically Syracuse has a good run defense. But, they haven't played a good running team yet. Also, when you look deeper into the stats, the running backs are doing ok against them, they have been sacking QB's all season. Syracuse is an ACC team, this isn't MAC team and that's no knock on the MAC. I would expect and ACC team to beat a MAC team though. But this is college football, and crazier things have happened then Syracuse upsetting LSU in NY. Still, with all that said, I think LSU takes care of business.
Agreed, if LSU thinks they can just roll their helmets out there and win, we may be in for a much closer game than expected.
