If we are voted into the NC. Should we take a page from Illinois, Florida, Texas (a la Vince Young) and focus more on the spread offense. It is clear that OSU is still running their playbook from 1964. They are horrible against the spread. Just a thought. I know I have been critical about Miles and alot of others have also. But I just want to say, after what he did yesterday he showed us once again he is a man of character (he probably has more in his socks than Saban could ever wish for) and a man of morals and virtues. :geauxtige

Don't let OSU control the tempo of the game, limit the penalties, hopefully LSU is close to 100% healthy, spread the offense and open up the playbook with Flynn (if available) and RP, blitz, blitz, blitz, basically play your A+ game on offense and defense!

I think that Ohio State is completely over-rated. Here is their non-conference schedule:

    Youngstown St.
    Akron
    Kent St.

They didn't beat the only half-decent team on their schedule this year, Illinois. The rest of the Big 10 is barely better than the ACC this year. In addition, Ohio St. had a better team with better skill players last year. That would be the year that the Gators held them to less than 90 yards offense. The Buckeyes are a BCS hoax.

So to answer your question, especially if Dorsey can get healthy between now and then is this:

Play man and dare the Buckeyes to throw downfield. The Tiger D lacks a little speed at the 2 safeties, so don't give them time to stay in the pocket and throw. Send extra manpower on obvious passing downs. Stuff the run and use the Tigers superior overall team speed to run down plays to the outside. Treat them with the exact amount of respect that the Gators did last year. BE AGGRESSIVE ON D.

On offense, again, Ohio St. can't match up with the Tiger speed at the skill positions, so it doesn't take a genius to figure this out. Get the running game established and then throw it down field, either QB. I don't think the Tigers need to worry about implementing a spread, I don't think the Buckeyes can run them down in a conventional offense.
The big thing is to cut down on offensive mistakes, and knock off the silly penalties, false starts, formation errors, etc.

The Buckeyes have no discernible passing offense. So take the run away. It ain't complicated. Cheers!

Not quite, OSU also played at Washington in September. Also, the Kent State game was a last-minute replacement for Syracuse, who backed out. Still, their OOC schedule was weak, but understand that this year is a bit of a lull from the last 2 years (home-and-home with Texas) and the next 10 (home-and-homes with USC, Miami, Cal, Va Tech, and Oklahoma.)

This year may be unusual, and I give Ohio St. credit for that home and home with Texas, previously. But Washington just fits into the general theme, although the Buckeyes certainly couldn't have known in advance just how bad Washington would stink, when that game was scheduled. I stand by the points made. Ohio hasn't beaten anybody that should cause anybody to be impressed with them. Of course, the game is going to get played anyway, despite what I might think, and the Buckeyes will certainly get a chance to prove me and others wrong about them. Cheers!

I'm not underestimating Ohio St. at all. You guys are acting like LSU has been some juggernaut that has dominated every team so far. We've struggled just like everyone else and Ohio St can very easily beat us. I hope we use a 2 quarterback system to keep their defense confused a bit and we won't win this game if we keep committing these awful penalties and doing dumb plays... remember that one drive that started at 40-50 and we ended up nearly within our 10 because of penalties and dumb plays? Yeah that can't happen against Ohio St.

Agreed. Right now, nobody knows how good or how bad OSU is. After watching them destroy Penn State on the road, I tend to think OSU is outstanding. After seeing Illinois manhandle them at home, I tend to think OSU is putrid. That being said, I like the way this game sets up from an OSU perspective - for the next month OSU will hear all about how fantastic LSU is, how LSU is playing a home game, how OSU doesn't deserve to be in the game, and how OSU simply cannot compete with that SEC speed. I doubt that we'll see the "fat and happy" OSU team from last year's NCG, and I wouldn't be surprised to see OSU give LSU a run for their money. Should be a fun game.

I don't have any problem with that post, and hope to see a good ballgame. I do have one question. What if the Buckeye team from last year wasn't fat and happy, but that's just who they were?
