But again, that was teams that are several hundred miles apart. McNeese is less than 2 hours down the road from you guys. Have them stay an extra night in BR, then play Sunday night or something.
The problem in 2005 was getting the hundreds of police officers on short notice who had other schedules. Dozens of concessionaires could not make the Monday game and many thousands of fans could not either. Game day prep conflicted with classes at LSU with 33,000 students on campus filling all parking lots. To replay this game in 24 hours, how would you seat fans who paid for their tickets but did not retain them? The Tennessee game was a vital SEC contest, McNeese was not. This game costs us a win, but it improves our strength of schedule.
They should have just kicked off at 11:30. Whoever made the decision to call it and cancel it sucks a big fat one.
Losing opportunity to work out the kinks offensively is big but would have been good for new guys Steele/Orgeron to get in-game communication kinks worked out on the other side, too. Historically not a strong point for us. Also any ideas why Teuhema, Clark and Johnson didn't suit up?
Out of the box thinking could have considered moving the team and whoever else wanted to show up for a "game" on Sunday at McNeese. We needed neither the win nor the money, we needed game time experience.
I saw that, maybe @bhelmLSU can shed some light on it. The other guy that may have known wouldn't tell us.
What a horrible night! Communication between game officials and the fans was horrible. Overall disappointing for fans and the team. Would have been nice for them to get some work in before SEC play.
