That's a little disappointing. Hope we get better as the season goes. I don't see Simmons dropping out of the first round, but based on what I saw he doesn't have much of a jump shot so his stock might take a hit over the course of the season (ala Fournette). Wonder if there is any chance he stays for next season. Sounds like we failed our first real test. I think Jones was a good hire but some of the game day criticism might be accurate. Still early, not too disgruntled yet.

He definitely needs work on his J. It is not consistent in any way. If he drops it won't be far, he will stay top 3. The NBA drafts on potential more than any other league. Which in part is why it was so watered down for so many years, with too many kids coming out of high school or leaving early. I don't at all blame them, but most of those kids never develop like expected. They lack the fundamentals. Simmons has an immense skill set to work with. He has excellent size, with the ability to handle coast to coast like a guard. He is a beast on the boards. He has the court vision and IQ of a guard. He just needs that J.

Also we didnt play a lick of d until the last couple minutes, But we did manage a few steals that got us back in it.

Simmons jumpshot will come. But he is the most polished and all around talented freshman I can remember. Maybe UK gets guys like this every year but I dont think so. At least not this natural. This kid is special. No way drops out of top 3 barring injury.

Make no mistake, Simmons is a baller. He's definitely not the best shooter LSU has ever had, but he is quick to the basket, can handle the ball and attacks rebounds. He's gonna be special. He does as you pointed out however need to work on his jumper though.

He should have taken the shot at the buzzer instead of dishing. Besides his J, which he should develop, the other knock I've heard on him is that he's too Unselfish.

No defense.. Defense wins championship and Offense sells tickets.

I think the defense will come. Still a young team learning to play together. Can't wait to get Hornsby back. He's the difference last night.
