well the first time around he absolutely had to pass it, otherwise he had 3 defenders on him the 2nd time, he would have had to create his shot which he might very well have pulled off but there was no sure fire open shot at any point in time on that last possession
Ok, so what of Gray (the player who got you to the point of nearly winning the game) having 4 fouls and being put on their best offensive player on Marquette's game winning possession? You simply can't do that.
The 2nd time he had a 5 foot 9 inch dude on him in the air and he hadn't put the ball on the ground. He could have created a shot off 1 dribble.
Gotta have your best guy take it to the hole and draw the foul at the very least over a 25 footer. No Hornsby.
Didn't get to watch; pretty disappointing that we lost, hope game two goes better. Can I get a quick recap?
Marquette lead the entire game with great ball control, and inside play. LSU would fall behind, make a run to cut it to 6, fall behind, make a run, fall behind, make a run, until the Tigers finally took a lead with 20 seconds left in the game, 80-79. Marquette brings the ball up court and Gray fouls their best scorer and fouls out with 10 seconds left. Guy drains both gimmes and Marquette takes a 81-80 lead. LSU gets the ball up court, Simmons gets it, passes, then back to Simmons under 4 seconds and instead of penetrating or trying to create he throws a bad pass cross half court to the top right off the mark where Jalyn Patterson had to reach out pulling him farther out past the 3 point line and rush a long 3 which clanged off the iron, game over.
