Absolutely. In this day and age, you have to expect both, presumably, a good coach and mentor, but also a winning coach. The interesting thing is to what degree do you emphasize and require both. History will show that LSU's basketball program has certainly seen inconsistent highs and lows--we were lucky enough, unlike many SEC schools, to have seen the final four a few times. At the same time, we've struggled to win consistently and reach the pinnacle, and that backdrop certainly gave folks like Brown, Maravich and Brady a lot more time than maybe today's game. I'd like to have this season play out. I've done some research and on thought on benchmarking Trent, but you'd like to give the man the benefit of the year with a developing team.
While Trent hasn't been going around handing out nets to kids at playgrounds, and has nothing close to the charisma of Dale, he is quite good at engaging the community. He can be seen doing a lot more around town than Brady ever did. I really like and respect Trent.
I totally agree, there was very little to no depth when he arrived if memory serves me correctly. The program had to be rebuilt. That is really awesome to hear and nice to know.
Nice read. Thanks for posting. AK is right on with his analysis. Hopefully, the Marquette win proves to be a turning point, and not a blip.
Well, we are on our way after a blowout win over Grambling. Nice to be able to say that about an LSU basketball team. They beat an undefeated, ranked teams, and follow it up with 2 convincing wins against teams they SHOULD beat.
