West Monroe High has made a point of upsetting teams recently. And yes our db's are amazing at blitzing, and I wish Chavis would dial it up more also. But he's more concerned about stopping the big play than he is about getting the big play on defense. That's one of the reasons TM7 was so special. He got us those big plays despite Chavis being conservative.
That drives me crazy too, but I keep hoping he's going vanilla against the rent-a-win teams and doesn't want to show any blitz schemes on film just yet. We'll see...
If only that was the case, but it's not. Chavis does not go to the blitz nearly enough, and when he does it's often too late when the opposing team knows we have to. It's really one of my only critiques of the Chief.
I'm also liking Dewayne Thomas. I didn't see RR, did I just miss him, our signal in this New Orleans hotel was shit, felt like I was watching scrambled skinemax flicks when I was a kid.
That's true the past few seasons, but earlier in his tenure, he seemed to blitz a bit earlier in the game and with more frequency overall. I wonder if experience at the DL positions plays into that? I'm sure other factors, too, such as how tight the game is, etc.
The problem with cup cake wins is that if we lose to someone, anyone, these "cheap" wins will no longer be much of an asset.
JMO, but I wouldn't be holding anything back. With a young team they need all the reps under the gun they can get.
