I am fine with that, because LSU ISN'T a basketball school. I am totally fine with that. We shouldn't compete with Duke, etc... year-in and year-out, because their recruiting budgets are the best, etc... We just should compete with the rest of our league. so yeah, we're basically on the same boat.
it's actually a 360. It's a done deal that Grant wants the job. Dude is at VCU (a joke) and would be in the SEC, working for his old boss (Lombardi), so he def would want the job, from what we hear. It's whether LSU would want him that is the issue. Lombardi wants him... badly. Skip doesn't Skip is on the way out... Lombardi isn't... We'll see who prevails.
Hmmmm....I'll believe as long as I'm alive the 81 team was the best in the country and by that thought the best team LSU has ever had. Sometimes you lose.....the best team doesn't always win, i.e. UNLV, Michigan with the Fab 5.
Which we haven't been doing consistently for the last 11 years. But you advocate hiring one of the instruments of that inconsistentcy in Butch? And you do so by ridiculing one the instruments of Florida's success the last 10 years? Florida had hired Grant when Donovan left..........he may ultimately be no better than Butch when it comes down to it but LSU cannot reinvigorate a program that has been in constant disarray from defections and stupid recruiting choices the last 11 years by hiring one of the guys who is responsible for the turmoil. I hope Butch has much success in the future. The guy deserves it after putting up with Brady this long. But he needs to find that success elsewhere IMO.
You think Bama will hire the assistant coach for a fired Brady? And I don't understand why you'd want him to beat LSU because the LSU admins didn't hire him. I think even Butch would understand full well why LSU didn't hire him. Oh, and LSU paid his housenote for the last 11 years and gave Brady about $1 million per year more than he's worth.
well 2 SEC Titles in 11 years is probably more than any other school in the West. You don't get it. You just don't get it. Or maybe you do, because you touched it at the end of your post. Brady gave his assistants zero power. Basically ZERO gameplan power... All they did was recruit, virtually. The actual success in the gym and the w's and l's were Brady's banana. It's not that I dislike Anthony Grant, I just think he is the same man as butch: Young, energetic African American man who can recruit. When players signed with LSU, they did so hoping one of two things happened: 1. They could go pro in 1-2 years 2. That Brady would be fired so they could play for Butch. I can't find any one player, other than Ben Voogd who said when they signed that they credit brady for signing them, and Voogd only credited Brady, b/c LSU was the only big school to offer him. The arrangement was Brady laid out who he wanted, and it was Butch's job to go and get 'em. And if you look at the number of SEC POY's LSU has had and the number of freshmen of the years , and the number of NBA guys the team has had, I'd say Butch did a great job as an assistant. I have seen him do a decent job in the SEC (5-5 with not so hot talent). I haven't seen Anthony Grant do that.

Dick does the same song and dance when any coach gets fired. He got fired. If you'd hire any coach who Dick Vitale says to hire then I'm glad you aren't doing the hiring.
