The fact is that it's one of those perverse BCS disincentives for a team like LSU. There is very little to gain from a win due to the always-tough SEC schedule, which will get LSU to a NC game alone. A loss possibly knocks us out of NC contention. I don't think teams are dodging Boise because they're necessarily "scared" of competition, but in the school's cost/benefit analysis, there's very little upside in scheduling them if you're trying to get to a BCS bowl or NC game. Yet another problem that an actual tournament would solve. But under the BCS, unless there were severe public outcry, the majors that run the BCS will never allow a Boise or Utah in the title game.
what looks better? a win over boise st or a win over usl? plus, some people here say we can't win the NC every year and seem to enjoy losses. So, lets play them.
Under the current BCS systemn, it won't matter if the win is against ULL or BSU. Major programs know that and that's why they don't answer when BSU comes calling. There is much to lose. This sucks, but this is how the system is set up.
The BCS is a dishonest, and fraudulent system. Half of all teams in the FBS don't even have access to the BCS national championship game regardless if they won every game they play.
