I was scouting, found this good thread. We get some cred over at Auburn (sometimes). http://www.aunation.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=48467 Rest of the thread is good too. :geaux:
When I lived in Mobile Al the Auburn fans were very fun...competitive...but very fun. Alabama fans on the other hand....:rolleye33:
The LSU-Auburn game will never be considered the best rivalry game in the SEC. But, I think LSU-Auburn has been the most competitive, even balanced contest year in and year out for both teams.
Just look at the games. 2004: Auburn wins 10-9 on BS call on an extra point. 2005: LSU wins 20-17 in OT thanks to several missed kicks 2006: Auburn wins 7-3 thanks to BS interference call (or lack thereof) 2007: LSU wins 30-24 on last second touchdown (literally) Auburn got handed to them the 04 and 06 games because of suspect officiating, but I think Auburn outplayed LSU in the 2005 and 07 games but had some hard luck. so yeah, this is the most competitive rivalry in all of CFB.
Just to steal a few fun facts from a poster there. LSU and AU started playing football in 1893 and 1892 respectively. Since which time, there is only a 10 game record difference between both school's record. (talk about balanced, even teams) And each team has 47 ties in history against their opponets. Since 2000, Each team has scored exactly 114 points against one another. LSU leads the series 22-19-1. I found those interesting.
its a shame that game is so early in the year, because while they are close, they are usually poorly played.
Doesnt this game move next year to a later date? I seem to remember reading something about that a while back.
