I'd be curious to know. Did we cave? I'll assume every resource was exhausted and whichever one knew it isn't our fans desire to play day games but sometimes we can't get around it. Sure as hell beats a thursday night game.

It's not the same team that upset UM either. I know it's a selling point just as both of us are defending National champs but some people miss that.

Has LSU ever said no to the opportunity to play on TV, even if it means playing a day game? I hate day games, but I believe that being on TV is much more beneficial for LSU than a 7pm game that is not on TV.

I posted an article a few days ago about how the new AD, Alleva, is learning quickly that night games in Tiger Stadium are important to LSU and its fans.

They started the negotaiations with ESPN at the SEC conferences last week. Alleva held out and urged ESPN to schedule a night game instead of an afternoon game. I would bet they tried to schedule it earlier in the day but the negotiations by Alleva pushed it back some. In no way did I see ESPN putting this matchup on opening weekend as a primetime game.

ESPN could have easily gone another route with 2 other teams so Alleva knew that national exposure was very important as well.

Sounds like you are a very serious tailgater. I love that about our fans.

One of the mods is Ellis Hugh. He does not post much though. He's more of a silent assassin.

Relax. It was a simple question. Don't read anything into it beyond that.

Well, it's not like we HAVE to play a day game just to get on TV, our 7pm night games make it on TV as well. LSU has done the day-game-for-TV-thing for many, many years... I'm curious to know which of those situations were controversial decisions from those who are actually knowledgeable regarding this issue.

This 2008 season, the SEC teams we play at home are Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Miss State. I have no idea what if any TV deals have been made regarding those games... does anyone know what the situation is regarding getting those games, especially Georgia and Alabama, as 7pm games that are on TV?
