LSU obviously needs to sweep Tennessee. AU, Ole Miss, and MSU are all 11-13, tied for 7th place. We are 8-16. OM and MSU play next weekend, and AU plays Bama and UT. We are playing for the 8-seed and the 8-seed only. Sweep next weekend, and we are likely either 1 or 2 games behind OM or MSU for 8th place (one team sweeping the other ends all hopes pretty much). So LSU could end up going to MSU having to win 2 or 3 games to get that 8-seed. Again, all of that hangs on LSU sweeping Tennessee. Tennessee IS awful, but LSU did just get shutout for 24 consecutive innings.
1-learn how to pitch 2-learn how to hit 3-learn how to catch in the 1st inning with 1 out and a runner at third, lsu brought the infield in. the first inning! how much faith does maineri have in his offense if he brings the infield in with 0 runs in and 1 out in the bottom of the first? then, down 3-0 (which might as well be 100-0) runners on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out, 2 balls, 0 strikes, pitcher gets the order to intentionally walk the #3 hitter to load the bases for...who?...the #4 hitter, also known as the cleanup hitter. so, guess what the clean up hitter does? grand slam.
Well, it is a pick your poison situation. Guy who was walked is a .360 hitter, and the guy who hit the HR is a .296 hitter. This is like walking Mahtook (.350) to get to Nola (.295). Arkansas did this exact thing. But again, Bama could have scored 1 or 100, and this would have ended exactly the same.
