As expected, my Nicholls booster called early this morning. Shockingly, he was VERY respectful. Talked about how big of a win this was for their program. Spoke highly of Coach Mainieri, and the conversation he had with him yesterday. You could tell this guy was genuinely excited about that win last night, and wasn't in the least bit interested in gloating or rubbing it in. Congrats to the Colonels.
its ok. i can barely spell nicholls, let alone judge their team. and i sure as hell cant spell their city.
if i snapped my fingers and did three jumping jacks id forget that easily. i think i got labadieville down and that was hard enough.
nootch, you really think it's that big of a win? i know all the NSU guys are talking about how big it is. i disagree. it hurts more for LSU to lose this game than for nicholls to win. when the committee looks at wins/losses OOC, it could hurt LSU's chances at a top eight seed no matter how good their SEC record is. of course that goes for all the instate schools, not just nicholls. but like i said earlier, i don't think that we'll see any reserves to the extent of last night in any more games this season. but there is something to be said about the fact the nicholls used eight pitchers. good move by CCD. LSU did have some loud outs though.
yeah, it is that big of a win for them. It's huge. They just beat the number 1 team in the country. And that is going to be repeated over and over again in all of the College Baseball world for the rest of this week, and when the ranking come ot next week. This will be the 1st time in a long ass time that Nicholls gets any type of attention in that kind of media. Small potatoes for most schools, but for a team like Nicholls, they just won the World Series. This may be the biggest thing that has ever happened to their baseball team. These guys are gonna remember this for the rest of their lives, whereas most of our kids will have forgotten about this by the time the Tennessee series is over.
they'd better not forget. or the tulane loss. or the ull loss.... point is, they seem to be able to play to take 2/3 from ga on the road, but not find the energy to play nicholls at home.
maybe so... i'm just glad i see things for what they are. if the biggest thing in their lives is beating LSU when it doesn't count, so be it. line up a hundred times and LSU will win 99 of them. idk, really. i guess it's different for the players. :insane: it's just a different echelon. you go to nicholls' campus and ask kids in the quad to name ONE baseball player... hell, even the coach. if you could come away with more than, say, five people all day long, i'd be shocked. likewise, head out to LSU and you'll probably get stats from players going back ten years. i'm not dogging nicholls since that is my school. but when this kinda thing gets attention, when the academics of the school are in dire need of attention.... well.
not forget in the literal sense. just meaning that in the grand scheme of things, this game meant very little to LSU and it showed. which is why it is such a big win. in 2039, we'll pull this thread back up, and notice that Nicholls has probably never reached this height again. they'll never win anything of value, so beating #1 in their own park is as big as it gets. average students? yes those involved with the athletic teams? they tend to have a serious case of penis envy/jealousy/hatred towards LSU.
