The Tigers complete the tour of LA schools when the Gents come to town this evening. Also, it's the final home game of the season (till regionals, anyway :hihi: ). The Gents are a very good team, tied for second in the Summit league and the have wins against both Texas a&m (#1 at the time) and arky. Kinda ugly out there now, but weather should clear for tonight. or at least stop raining. Radio only tonight. LSU – So. RH Daniel Bradshaw (3-0, 4.40 ERA, 30.2 IP, 9 BB, 23 SO) CC – Sr. RH Joe Hagen (1-1, 6.66 ERA, 25.2 IP, 13 BB, 10 SO)
just out of curiousity, because they call the mens teams the "gents", what does centenary call their ladies teams?
Just wondering, why would LSU schedule a game like this when you have a SEC series on Thursday, Friday and Saturday? This will have the tigers playing 4 games in 5 days. This will greatly wear down our pitching staff for the upcoming weekend series and the SEC tournament. To me, this game should have been played last week when we didn't have a game until Friday.
i dont know, but i am assuming that last week was finals which is why no games were scheduled. playing one mid-week game this week is no different than playing a weekend (fri, sat, sun) series, turning around and playing tues and wed mid-week, then playing a weekend series again. the team has been doing that since ealy march with exception of a few weeks where there was only one mid-week game.
The Gents are by no means a pushover. Our boys better be prepared mentally for this one, and not play down to their competitions level. We can ill afford to drop a midweek game right now. Should be a good warm up for this weekends series with Moo U. Tigers it is time to put together a win streak similar to last season. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!
The Ladies. My sister is about to graduate from there and informs me that a recent move by the AD to switch to a dog mascot was thoroughly torn apart by students and alumni alike, so they will be the ladies/gents for the foreseeable future. Good thing too, Do we really need another school with a dog mascot? And to fan910; this years compressed schedule is to blame. With a later season start time, all teams had to compress to get all the games in. It's also why there were so many mid-week doubles.
Playing a mid week game is a good way to stay sharp. One can only take so much batting practice. And there are some rarely used arms that need some work, just in case.
