Folks, with hopefully the sting of the week wearing off, we wake up to find ourselves in the midst of the very key January SEC hoops run. Case in point? Both 1-1 in the SEC, LSU and Arkansas tip off tonight (on Fox SW in LA region, ESPN3 for those outside of that region) on the 'Backs' home court. Both teams had seven win streaks in Dec, and Arkansas has proven to be a formidable, but inconsistent young team under new coach Mike Anderson. Likewise, the Tigers show their youth with lapses like they had against Alabama. The SEC schedule will test the Tigers' mental fortitude almost more than they physical fortitude, as the key for this team will be their ability to execute on a consistent high level. That is particularly, to rebound, not turn the ball over, shoot reasonably well, and continue to play hard-nosed defense. Arkansas is key as they are potentially, like LSU a "bubble team". LSU's played the tougher schedule, but Arkansas wins most of their games at home. As the old adage is in the SEC, steal one on the road and win 'em at home. Even upper tier SEC schools like Florida (who lost to a Rutgers team that LSU beat) are learning this... All about the SEC: Motivating the Gators - College Basketball - Rivals.com Certainly, tonights game is not a must win game, but it's a bell-weather game. Can LSU's young guards Hickey and Stringer play well against Arkansas pressure. I expect to see Bass more again today. Also, what is the deal with Ralston Turner? I know you tell shooters to keep shooting, but perhaps Ralston just needs to relax and focus on other parts of his game... defense, rebounding and making good passes. The shots will come. Lastly, Storm Warren. Clearly as a fully healthy Storm, he's been valuable to the Tigers. But, silly fouls could have cost LSU the game vs Bama (picked up 2 fouls in basically 3 minutes in the first half), and without JOB, we can ill-afford to not have some threat alongside Hamilton to keep defenses honest. If LSU can survive the pressure, keep the tempo reasonable, and exploit LSU's strengths in the post, this should be a competitive game. Of course, given how Arkansas plays, it has the potential of being a high scoring affair to the detriment of the Tigers. :geaux::bball::LSU231:
You have a scouting report TGer? I know the style of basketball Arky plays, but are they as athletic as Bama?
the problem with arkansas is they are not a great or even a good team, but they are extremely talented, which can sometimes be a really good thing. at home i believe they may be one of the best teams in the SEC on the road not so good, they get thrown off from lag and lack of momentum. this should be a really good game. LSU can come in to bud walton and get a W, but i don't think they will. just my opinion.
I kinda live in Hog land (Texarkana, on the Texas side tho) I have gotten so much back lash from Hog fans about the Football NC it's not funny, Ive heard that stuck in NO bus can't get across the 50 at least ten times a day... Us losing NC seem to be just as good as them winning! So I look forward to every chance we have to beat the Arkansas Rolling Tide! Lets go Tigers!
I know how you feel. Just remind them of the ass whuppin they got in November and who has the boot and the SEC title.

The only smack I hear is from Hog fans. Pretty pathetic when the best thing that happens in your football season is when the team that put a serious whoopin' on you gets beat for it all. Funny. Their biggest win over us didn't even stop us from winning the title. They're still sore over that, I can assure you.
