Had Bell stuck with LSU and Te'O signed with USC, my predictions would have all been within 10 points regarding LSU, USC and Bama.

Ugh...in the long run, the talent level of ALL these upper-tier schools is going to be near equal. The rest is up to fate...how the ball bounces and how well the coaches gamble. I'll take Crowton over any other OC in the SEC and I'll put Chavis right up there with little nicky in terms of RESULTS on the field.

I'm just happy we're in the top five.

I agree, 2 years isnt a trend but much to my dismay you cant deny that Saban is reeling in some LSU/USC/FLA type talent and depth.

Of course, you know it did, but it wasnt the image he sent. It was a link to an article on yahoo.

    LINKY HERE

Izzy posted something back during the season about the gumps replacing aub as our main rival for the SEC west. The results from last season certainly show that and this illustration shows the amount of talent Saban is collecting. He was right, the gumps are clearly our main rival in the SEC west.

Absolutely. In fact on the ESPN National chat board, there is a thread discussing the "best" recruiter in the country and I gave my vote to NS.

Just in the SEC, Saban hasn't done any better at recruiting than Miles, Richt, or Meyer. Of those four, Richt doesn't even have a national championship, yet he does just as well.

In the NCAA as a whole, Pete Carroll has the best results as a recruiter, but one could argue he has no competition on the western half of the US.

Average star rankings of Southern Cal recruiting classes

    Rivals
    2004 - 4.05 (#1 in NCAA)
    2005 - 3.95 (#1 in NCAA)
    2006 - 3.96 (#1 in NCAA)
    2007 - 4.22 (#1 in NCAA)
    2008 - 3.89 (#2 in NCAA behind ND)
    2009 - 3.89 (#2 in NCAA behind Florida)

    Scout
    2004 - 4.00 (#1 in NCAA)
    2005 - 4.25 (#1 in NCAA)
    2006 - 4.17 (#1 in NCAA)
    2007 - 4.39 (#1 in NCAA)
2008 - 3.84 (#3 in NCAA behind ND and Ohio St)
    2009 - 3.94 (#1 in NCAA)

All things considered including location, weather, media market, in-state talent, recent success, coaching staff, and academics I'd still say that NS has done the best job so far.

Google cant comprehend scenarios that dont involve numbers.

Tier 1: Carroll, Meyer, Saban - could recruit at any school better than anyone else.

Tier 2: Butch Davis, Charlie Weis.

Tier 3: Miles, Richt, Tressell, Rodriguez, Brown.

All of those guys will recruit top ten-ish classes on a yearly basis. Probably missing a couple.

i would swap carroll with davis simply because Im unsure if carroll could recruit anything close to the same if relocated and without current resume'.

Butch davis proving he can recruit most anywhere.

mack brown would be on that level 2 for me as well along with Les.

dont know enough about the rest actually.

still having a hard time understanding how Weis can be convincing guys to go there as opposed to USC or elsewhere. especially after having close to the worst football team on tv the last 3 years. he has to be a great recruiter however the hell hes doing it.

who knows how he would do. he has shown he gets it though. he locked down his area and got recruits from nj, ten and other areas before the media stroked him raw.

No problem with that. Not that much of a gap really. should have had brown there originally. he did well at unc.
