Yep, we're cursed all right. Cursed with an Athletic Director that plays all kinds of "Politics" in his basketball coaching hires. Neither Johnson, Caldwell or Jones should have been hired. All political hires, instead of bringing in the best qualified coaches that were available. Womens BB. Just hire Kim Mulkey and be done with it. (With Bob Starkey as the top assistant) Give the Hammond Girl what she wants and be done with it. Just do it and get it over with. Mens BB. Like I said in the UK thread, the program never has and never will be consistent under Johnny Jones. He's probably the worst in-game X&0 coach in the history of LSU Athletics. (And that's saying a lot) Just stands around on the sidelines looking dazed, confused and clueless. Only a matter of time with him..................
Sad to say, but you're probably right on all fronts, esp. re: CJJ. Agree w/giving Mulkey whatever she wants, but its prolly too late at this point to get her. She's pretty set in her life, i'd imagine. I will say CJJs team is pretty young, fwiw.
She is the worse women's bb coach we have had in 40 years. I don't watch women's hoops so I don't really care. Take her salary and add it to whatever raise they are going to give Coach O.
I never did like or understand the hiring of CJJ. The guy never coached a winning program in the college ranks. Dale Brown and Temple have the final say on the men's basketball program at LSU.
He coached No. TX to multiple 20 win seasons, and I believe they made the NCAAs one or more years he was there - going off of memory, but I'm sure someone will search this and clear it up.
