A little of both although it has lost some significance and prestige. It's still usually a quality bowl matching quality opponents.
I've never been a fan of the Rose Bowl, even though I do live in Big Ten country. I laugh now when they still try to sell the Rose Bowl as "the Granddaddy of them all!", even when the teams playing in the game aren't champions of the Big 10 and Pack 12. Its a nice consolation game.
People wanted a college football playoff system, and they got it. I can see the conference championship games going away as well.
Do the rankings not come out till Tuesday? Damn it. I guess we can try to extrapolate the AP/coaches polls. Do the BCS rankings still get released?
I'm going to be Mulder on this one too; we have an outside shot, I think the playoff committee takes the last ratings pretty seriously. But considering we'll give AU and FU a quality win each, I suspect you're right.
Agreed, so should every game in the regular season. Us losing to AU or UF is better than AU or UF losing to an unrated team.
Florida is a non issue we jump them. The war chickens however is the question does our loss to the gumps look as bad as theirs? Don't know but I think they get sugar and we get capital one.
