LSU's biggest friend in their NC hopes is redeeming their loss to Florida. Their only loss would be to a team they beat.
if iowa looks really good against ohiost or bama loses to auburn or florida loses to usc or fsu. none of this is a reach. lsu needs to build up some cache to overcome an undefeated B10 team
Exactly who has Iowa looked good against this year? Like needing two blocked FGs to beat a I-AA team? You beat the national #2/#3 on the road and then #1 in the SECCG, that's all the cache you need, regardless of how it's done. Iowa won't have anywhere near that on their resume in the W column by season's end if they run the table. SEC champ will go to the NC, and you can take that to the bank.
If Iowa and Texas go undefeated, and the SEC champ has 1 lose.. then Iowa and Texas will play for the championship. If LSU beats Alabama, and Florida loses in the SEC championship game and Iowa and Texas are undefeated then the SEC is on the outside. SOS Florida 5 Iowa 12 Texas 31 Alabama 34 LSU 44 If you go to 2 losses then you will have the Boise States and Cincinnati and Oregons of the world in the mix. No way you get in with 2 losses this year. Style points are not going to help with an extra loss over Texas and Iowa. Now if Texas and Iowa each lose a game. And Florida loses the SEC championship game to either LSU/Alabama with one loss... then the computer and ranks could have two SEC teams in the championship game. LSU technically could face Florida three times in one year. It's a long shot (very unlikely) but it could happen, actually someone on ESPN predicted that at the beginning of the year that would be LSU and Florida in the BCS championship.
How in the hell is UF's SOS at 5, they have one of the weakest SEC schedules. They don't play any of the top ranked teams except for LSU/Bama in the SECCG. And their OOC is horrid with the exception of FSU, which sucks this yr.
The polls could screw us, Charlie. The rest of the country is tired of hearing how much better the SEC is than the rest of them. Voters are quite likely to put an undefeated Boise State or Cincinnati above a 1-loss SEC team.
Florida has only had one cupcake game...Charles Southern. Troy is not a bad team. It's SEC teams. LSU has one less SEC team it has played so far this year so they should move up by the end of the year and Florida will probably move down. If Florida State were a good team then by the end of the year Florida would probably be in the top 3 by the end of the year but since Florida State is kind of weak it will not help much this year. If Iowa and Texas are not playing with zero losses and an SEC team is in there with one loss I guarantee you 99% of the rest of the country will think those teams got screwed. Should Boise be in there with zero probably not... to say Texas and Iowa shouldn't be is another story.
