Virginia Tech pulled a fast one on us that year. I believe both schools agreed this would be the first game for each but VT made a late change and had a tune-up game the week before. Of course, they also reneged on their scheduled visit to Tiger Stadium...which ultimately paid dividends for us! :hihi::crystal::hihi:
Another interesting thing about the University of Washington is that their colors are purple and gold. So the game in Seattle on 9/5/09 will feature the purple and gold vs. the purple and gold.
Of course, Washington's purple isn't really LSU purple (it's darker, more like a blue) and their gold is shiny gold, not yellow gold. This is a good move; a mid-level team from a BCS conference, just as it should be.
I live in the San Fran Bay Area. Can you say road trip to see LSU. I think so. I would like to see a Stanford or Cal. added to the schedule. Saw the Cal Tenn game here last year and the Cal people said that was the greatest game atmosphere they have had in a long time. Tenn traveled well and was an enjoyable game. They split the Tenn tickets into 4 areas of the stadium to separate their power or else they would have drowned out the treehuggers. Was with a Cal Board member tailgaiting and the Cal Women Athletic Director ( Forget Her Name ) but someone asked her if she walked by the trees to get there and she laughed and said hell no you think i want to get attacked by the treehuggers. That stadium is a dump though and they need a new one in the worst way. It sits on top of the Hayward fault and that fault is due a big one. They wont have a stadium if the big one hits.
Here's the deal though. Their purple is darker, almost a violet. And the gold is very pale and not nearly as prominent in the scheme as it is for LSU. Who cares really? It is an outstanding venue, Seattle is a GREAT city to be in for an away game, Husky fans are generally very nice, and they have great tailgates. Out of all the Pac10 schools, it's in a tie for my favorite roadie next to Tempe. If you can, get a hookup with a boat and tailgate on the lake.
The treehuggers don't attend the games. They spend the time braiding the leg hair on their women folk. Uh, Sandy Barbour, irish graduate and former Tulane AD. :hihi: Does it look like the treehuggers might want to attack her?:grin: Understatement of the decade. The entire area, campus, stadium is a hazard. Bezerkely students are on par with some of the worst in the country. A few years back they had a trick they liked to pull. They threw frozen oranges at opposing band members. Nice until they knocked a few out and gave concussions. The biggest problem there is the folks who live on the hill nearby don't want their quality of life or their view obstructed during construction. The treehuggers won't let the trees be cut down. It's a shame.
I was wearing my LSU jersey at the game and she just turned to me and said Ugh LSU cant i get away from you people and laughed LOL But she does have a bodygaurd cause the treehuggers are not happy with her.
I thought you were going to say, periwinkle, since we are getting in detail about the actually colors. Id say it was more of a plum hue:hihi:
I went to Seattle for the game last season and have been many times. I love Seattle. It's a great city. Too much rain for me on a regular basis but it's a beautiful place. Not sure I'd call them my second favorite team but I am sorta' pulling for Ty. He's been an average coach but a great person and I'd love to see him succeed while Weiss takes a dump. If you were suggesting I'd travel to see LSU, it's certainly tempting. At the moment, USC has San Jose St on the schedule the same weekend. I hope that changes. We are scheduled to be in Seattle two weeks after that on the 19th. Nice boost for UDub.
