http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/lsu-football/lsu-expected-offer-dc-position-oklahomas-mike-stoops/ Well, that is unexpected, at least by me. Thoughts?
OU has become stale just like LSU. Both programs could use an infusion of new thoughts and energy. Unfortunately, the offensive side of the ball needs it desperately. I would love to see Miles hire a younger guy with energy and fire. Pendergast, Shoop, Venables would be great. Either of these guys are young enough that if they turn out to be great, they could take over the program and continue rolling. A retread like Stoops or an older guy would be disappointing and more than likely lead to Miles legacy being tarnished.
The only reason Mike Stoops would leave OU is because Big Choker Bob wants him to leave to save his own behind.
This is what I don't get. I have been out of the state for a while so haven't been able to keep up with the local news. I can tell you that the bond between the Stoops brothers is a strong one. I would be pretty surprised if Bob wanted him out, it's not like them to be that way. That aside, I can't see pressure from the AD, him and Joe C are thick as thieves, David Boren only cares that no one finds out he is plowing his 20 year old cabin boy, oh oh sorry Dave. Coaches don't listen to or give a crap about what fans sat so it's just hard for me to get this one. And I'm out of town again this week so it will be a while before I can catch up.
