That would've been perfect. Would've been a great way to let a lot of Houston area recruits watch LSU play. Damn you Tech!!
That's true. However, I still think it sets up nice for 2008. It's an almost clinch that the OOC schedule will be 4-0. If you can get through the SEC schedule with 1-loss and win the SEC championship game, history of the last 2 yrs (UF/LSU) will almost guarantee that LSU gets into the ship again. Going forward, I'd love to see a game in Reliant against TT, the Aggies, or even U of H. LSU recruits nationally now so it's not quite as imperative to recruit Houston (& E.TX) but still can't hurt. Also, I live in Houston now and that would be a gi-normous event for me. I think LSU fans would be in shock over the limitations on tailgating and carrying alcohol freely around. Is that a TX thing or are all states like TX, and Louisiana is the oddity? My judgement on App St. is that they would be a middle of the road BCS team. Something like 5-6th in the Big East, 6th in the Big 10, 7th in the Pac 10, 8th-9th in the SEC. They had the perfect offensive scheme to run against a traditional Big-10 team like Michigan but our young secondary should be fine, of course with a little help from their D-Line friends.
We should just relax about this. Assuming we navigate through the OOC schedule unscathed, this may actually help us survive the SEC onslaught. I would've loved to have seen TT as well. But honestly, it was VT that beat the Tigers up bad early last season. That was a tough, tough (physical) game. Perhaps, just perhaps, this season is different enough that a low SoS season is just what the doctor ordered. If we lose two, we'll suffer. If we lose one, then SoS likely won't matter too much. Just like Ohio State last year, who played the 88th toughest schedule of 119. (if memory serves.)
Exactly. If we'd schedule AT LEAST ONE home & home, we could get higher caliber OOC opponents. All that, "They're scared" talk is bullchit. Ark plays at Texas. Aub plays at West Virginia. Georgia plays at Arizona State. Florida plays at FSU. Tenn plays at UCLA. Bama plays at Clemson... see the common denominator? So the administration will have their "Home games" like they wanted, looky what we get...JOY.:nope: What a terrible home schedule, thank God we have Bama and Georgia. Troy North Texas Appy State Tulane MSST Alabama Ole Miss Georgia
clair, am I right in assuming that no one backed out on us for this last OOC game. Meaning that this was a case of procrastination (exaggeration) rather than the excuse that it was so late that we couldn't do anything about it.
Miles made no bones about not wanting "Strong" OOC teams on our schedule, this past summer I think it was- not his exact words. I do agree that his formula is good with the SOS we get from other teams in our conference- I just wish we'd play at least one middle tier BCS team. Unfortunately for the fans, those games aren't very interesting but there are a lot of good reasons TO do it, as long as the existing system isn't penalizing us TOO much.
The LSU AD blew it with TT no doubt. How are they gonna demand a 5 year series against TT with 1 game in Tiger Stadium and 4 in Houston. Houston is 575 miles from Lubbock and 268 miles from BR. That would be 5 home games for LSU. They just can't low ball a BCS team like that.
