Some could make an argument that we had 5 NC but poll history is qustionable. Bama athletic department claims all possible NC but many can make an arguement that the number is far lower than 12.
OK, glad I found this board. You guys really seem to be great fans of Bayou Bengal football. I tried to catch up on all posts but my head started hurting. Forgive me if I repost something that's already been said. As an AppState fan, I, as most perhaps, do not really expect to win this game. Didn't expect to beat Michigan either. BUT, our players do and did...and did. I really think that because of our last 3 seasons and especially last season that the talking heads of ESPN, et al will not look at this game as much of a lose/lose situation as they would have in the past. Yes, a loss to us would be heartbreaking to you and your team but I don't think the media will play it up quite as much as last year pertaining to UM. I truly do think we have gained some much earned respect from all of them except maybe Herbstreit. That jac..sorry forgive me. Maybe he'll see us a sheet cake this year instead of cupcakes. Just to comment on a few things that have been mentioned by you guys... -Not too big a deal because I know we are a lower division regardless but we are Div. I, not II and have been for quite some time regardless if it has been I-AA or the silly FCS. Heck you may have more of an identity crisis than we do because you are two headed, FBS and BCS. Ain't the all knowing wizard that is the NCAA great?:lol: -We do usually get offended at being called Appy St. You would not understand and I fully expect you to call us that since you know now that it offends us. Please just smile when you say it:hihi: -The infamous Hot, Hot, Hot video was never used to officially promote our beloved university, THANK THE LORD, and has been used ad nauseum to poke fun at us. So have at it.:thumb: -And again, I, as a fan, am hoping for a great game, though not necessarily a win, but our players will most definitely GIVE THEIR ALL FOR APPALACHIAN STATE FOOTBALL. Wish I could make the trip to Baton Rouge but I will have to most likely experience it vicariously through my mom and dad, also App State alums. GOAPPS!!!!!!!! Just to add to my last post. I also truly believe that we could compete well in the conferences of you other OOC opponents, even now with only 63 scholarships, much more so with the full amount for I-A. I know that doesn't change the fact that we are I-AA right now and it doesn't really help you to play us. But here's to a great game on Aug. 30 and hope you can guys can win another BCS championship.
Would a smirk be OK? Hope you guys stick around through the summer. I think this game is going to get considerable hype and it will be fun to see it all unfold.
Man, don't negate your great history with that BCS mess. I think for all the money and prestige it has added to the NCAA it has done just the opposite for some of the traditions of the way it was. I like it when all the bowl games meant something besides $$$. But we'll never get back to that. Oh well.
