This is the way DandyDon sees it......

In football news, the NFL draft gets underway today and LSU is set to have a historical week in terms of the number of Tigers selected. Barquevious Mingo, one of LSU’s school-record 11 early departures, has been projected as high first round draft pick, while Sam Montgomery, Kevin Minter, and Eric Reid are expected to go in the late first or early second. Other Tigers projected to get drafted include Bennie Logan (middle to late 2nd), Tyrann Mathieu (late 2nd to 3rd), Tharold Simon (late 3rd to early 4th), Lavar Edwards (middle 4th to early 5th), Chris Faulk (early 5th), Spencer Ware (mid 5th), Brad Wing (late 5th to early 6th), Michael Ford (middle 6th), P.J. Lonergan (late 6th to early 7th), and Russell Shepard (late 7th).

Many times a 7th round pick would do better to be undrafted, a good agent can find a team/spot on a roster. By far one of the better 7th round picks out of LSU Todd McClure. Undrafted players at times do well. Look at Rudy Niswanger, Nate Livings and Ryan Clark are just a few.

LSU could have around a dozen drafted and a little less than 20 making it into an NFL camp.

Best of luck to all. GEAUX TIGERS...

Hes right, lots of movement going this draft because it is so deep with players, once you get passed the first 20, who knows. Too many things are going on now.

Reid is one that looks to be moving around, remember this, years ago the LB called formations. Now many teams want a Safety making calls, putting people in position, etc. Eric has Pro Bowl potential with the right team. He done well in the interview sessions, many teams have taken note. Hes the best at his position without all the baggage.

Simon is another, more upside than any CB this year. He has a shot to do well in the Pros, with the right team. The Seahawks love tall DB's. Many teams take notice of height. Remember, hes still young at the position.

Ford looked good on paper, but the thing is he can return kickoffs, teams like this.

Minter, 130 tackles in the SEC, in the SEC is the thing. Against players that will play in the Pros. Many teams see this one and have taken notice.

Does Faulk have any lingering health issues? If he was completely recovered, I would think he'd go higher than the 5th round based on his 2011 season.

I'm curious to see if Ford can suprise at the next level. I always loved his speed and he looks put together really well. We never got to see him run between the tackles much, not sure if that is a weakness of Ford or if we just had so many good RBs that Ford was the "run to the sidelines" RB.

It's amazing how long Ryan Clark has been in the league as an undrafted FA.

I think Faulk could go in the 4th round (perhaps early in the 4th round).

I was wondering about Minter going to BAL late in the 1st after they scooped up Rolando McClain.....but he just got arrested AGAIN, so there's that.

Perhaps Minter is still the heir apparent to Ray Lewis in BAL.

Mingo taken at #6 by the Browns.... he's the first SEC defensive player taking in the draft (and #2 SEC player overall beside the Texas A&M OT)
