Considering that the coaches poll is a fairly accurate ranking of teams and how the AP will place them, give or take a few, there are some teams that will have an easy ride this year. I have to start with the normal, Boise State. The effectively play 2 games this year. VT and Oregon State, though Oregon state will likely get killed. If VT wins, the Boise is out of a BCS game even if they win out. Their SOS is lower 25%. TCU is only 1 game better, they are also in the lower 25% SOS. Again, if they lose 1 game, no BCS. Surprisingly, Ohio is in the lower 50% somehow. Nebraska is another team that plays 1 ranked team so far. Big 12 North really blows…… But even dropping 1 game and then beat Texas would put them in for a major… So, Boise and TCU could easily get through the season undefeated. Also, the SEC, ACC , Big 10 and Big 12 could all have teams with 1 loss, EASY. In the event this happened, do we see a NC game with Boise and TCU? Does the country do them injustice for 2 years straight and leave them both out of the big game? Sadly, even if LSU won the SEC, we would likely get there with 1-2 losses and given the other teams that will be in the top 10, I see us sitting out, or any 2 loss SEC champ, a BCS game.
I would think the only way Boise State can get to the championship game is to beat VT (and run the table, of course) and to have VT go on to win their conference. If VT loses to Boise, then goes on to a relatively so-so season, I don't think Boise could muster enough votes at the end. On the flip side, VT is a real darkhorse to run the table themselves... that match up is a very big game in determining the 2010 contenders. The Texas/Oklahoma winner has the best chance, imo, to go undefeated of any of the potential conference champs... so I have the winner of that match up in the title game, deservedly or not. I would be very surprised if both Florida and Bama continue to run the table in the SEC, except for playing each other. One of them will have multiple losses, perhaps both. Them coming back down to earth is good for the conference, but not necessarily good for making the title game. Same with the Big Ten. tOSU is going for an unprecedented 6th straight title, but I think this is one of the years where the conference has real depth with three or four teams having a legit shot. I don't see anyone running the table and, therefore, don't see a one or two loss champion getting any consideration for the BCS championship. Right now, it would appear to my feeble brain that the VT/Boise winner and an undefeated Big 12 Champ is the most likely scenario. But, of course, that's why they play the games!!!!
I dunno. Boise and TCU will be ranked top 10, and if they run the table, one of them will be in the big game.... Just what I think, Boise has been up there for a few years now and I think they would get a chance just for that reason...
Thats the garbage I hate obout the BCS, Come on Texas...PLAY SOMEBODY!!!!!! I think with the SEC as strong as it is this year, we will cancel each other out for a shot at the NC game, however, I still think the SEC Champion with 2 losses, or Big 10 Champ with One loss and regardless of all other teams records, deserves a spot in the NC game, Hands Down! Cause I'll tell you right now, Boise vs any Big 12 School, I dont even care to watch that BS game
True, any SEC school in a BCS game = major money and they know il.. But, if an SEC school ends up being the only conf champ about of the bigs to have a 2 loss season, we sit it out, well, unless it's Bama...lol
