Just to clarify, I do think we only need one DC.... then we know exactly who to hang every Saturday we hate the defensive scheme. Rope ain't cheap nowadays, god dang it. J/K, but seriously, I do prefer one DC who is calling the shots...what do the CO-DCs do? Bounce ideas off each other?
Or they can be judged on how they picked up on their mistakes and made good, which I hope to be the case.
I've heard that the defense is basically Mallory's and that Peveto is more of a figurehead. Who knows? Regardless, I want to see a more aggressive, LSU-type of scheme. Blitzing and tenacious like it was. As well as the D played against Bama, Wilson still had all the time in the world to throw, except for maybe two or three plays.
exactly. of course everyone was sky high for this game. why havent they played similarly in the other big games? is it likely they play this way against troy? not a chance. ole miss? no but something close would be nice. arkansas? no this team lacks the leadership and/or maturity to bring it every game. theyve brought it once and therein lies a huge problem. its not likely to repeat especially now there's no bcs bowl to play for.
Cutrera running things at MLB and McCray in at FS could be a key to why the defense was in the proper spots for most of the game. McCray did get dragged by Julio a couple of times but 7 to 10 YAC is better than 60. there's something to be said for 60 minutes of intensity in such an emotional game, especially continuing the intensity throughout most of the second half after experiencing adversity on O .... .... with the exception of the WR corps. Byrd and Lafell need to play consistently regardless of their opinion of the QB situation. Demetrius in particular, I'm not impressed with his Hollywood attitude. I expect a lackluster effort against Troy but we will bring it against Nuttrino.
