There are a LOT of teams out there who will never be #4 --- much less #1 in their entire history. I'll bet they'd sell their left one to be #4 for just one week....and they'd sell 'em both to be #1 for a week. I'd hate to think what they would give to have one or two of these: :crystal: :geaux:
I don't see too many top 10 teams.... To me you have - Alabama - Florida - Texas After that it's pretty suspect to say the least. Rankings don't mean crap until the end of the year. My second tier teams would be - USC - Ohio St. - Boise St. - Georgia - Possibly Michigan After that pretty much a free for all. Where they (LSU) fits in there I don't know. To be honest they have a hard enough time just having one decent drive let alone one decent game. To expect them to outtalent ALA, FL, MISS, GA, AUB and ARK the rest of the year seems like a wishful thinking. BTW Washington lost to Sanford, throw that whole they are great thing out the window. And NEB beatup on the Cajuns so who the freak knows.
Then, we're not as good as we were in '07, not by a long shot. And, yes, youth and inexperience feed into that. But, right now, we're not very good and cannot even begin to be mentioned in the same league as the '07 championship team.
I'm surprised by your attitude. If your older daughter made straight A's and later the younger daughter made Bs in the same grade would you tell her that?
Re: LSU the 5th ranked team in the nation? at least we have a qb. and the d is better---cj is better, pp is better, hc is better. there is reasonable hope vs uga. they give up points so lsu may be able to put up points despite little running game and uga depends so much on green. i hope chavis just puts pp on him whereever he goes. the other difference between the seasons may be turnovers. it can hide a lot of flaws.
Re: LSU the 5th ranked team in the nation? Not only offensive turnovers, but the defense is forcing more turnovers this years, which is always a good sign.
Well, to be fair, SabanFan, the poster I was replying to was wondering why this team wasn't as good as the '07 team because "we have even more talent than we had then." I don't agree with that, and even if our young talent ends up exceeding that of '07, we're not there right now.
