Re: LSU the 5th ranked team in the nation? Penn State losing to Iowa, 11-10 in the 4th. We might be 4th when we wake up tomorrow. Anybody feel like 2005, when were ranked 3rd in the nation, but behind USC and Texas at the end of the year and would have gotten absolutely torced by either team had we played them?
No... we're just as good if not better... we're just too young to realise the talent we have... we're going to be very very sick next season. We'll be hearing nothing but LSU out of ESPN next year.
i hope not. i don't want to live through another season where we get as high as 3rd or 4th only to crash and burn. there's no way the team we saw today could live up to top 5 billing. i know that's negative, but it sounds real to me right now.
Re: LSU the 5th ranked team in the nation? You base success and happiness (all of a sudden mind you) on whether or not we play in the BCS title game???? Haven't we ALL seen first-hand that in order to MAKE that title game it's pretty much a crap-shoot coupled with LUCK! You talk about Boise making the title game. But make no mistake. I dont give a crap what you say otherwise, you were intentionally vague but it was clear you were taking another pathetically cheep "pot shot" at us and how you feel about this season (with the other malcontents). Who CARES if Texas or USC would have "torched us" in '05! Dynasties don't live forever and I must be one of the few that understand that in order to remain competitive over the YEARS, you DO have a take some growing pains every once in awhile. You remind me of the fat malcontent fan on Major League II. "Awwww they'll blow it..." JUST so when it happens you can gloat about being right. With such a chickensh*t way of looking at things, you may be on to something. As long as you give that front, you feel like you'll never be disappointed. And I guess that I can say all of that to you because like you've stated on another thread: "If you don't like it, you can move to China".
what i've said and what you've been saying are a little different. people here value objectivity, as do i. but you seem like you've got something to prove buddy. chill out a bit.
Re: LSU the 5th ranked team in the nation? AB, I respect your opinion on the matter. But anyone who is realistic doesn't see a top 5 team out there. Maybe a top 15 team. Maybe we'll all of a sudden improve and keep winning. All things are possible. And I certainly know about needing a little luck in winning a national title. We lived through it in 2007. The point about Boise State, and maybe I should have explained myself, is making a point that they don't play anyone from here on out and will most likely go undefeated. Given that fact, obviously only 1 SEC team can win all 12 games, and I think Texas will lose a game this year. So, there ya go, Boise State in the national title game. It had nothing to do with slighting our team with that comment. Hopefully that clears that up.
Re: LSU the 5th ranked team in the nation? It does clear it up. Do I think we're a top 5 team? No. But I don't think the teams ranked 4-10 are nec. top 10 teams either. But that's the season 2009 has started out. Personally, I've ALWAYS hated pre-season rankings and polls before week 5 of the season when everyone has gotten into conference play. I think the pre-season rankings have a lot to do with all of the negativity because all summer long we heard how we were top 10 so when our starting QB struggles in certain aspects of the game in so few career starts under his belt, it all gets magnified.
