Remember Dalton was a 3 Star and much in the background behind Garry JAMES the 5 Star......until Dalton hit the field. We’ll see what happens in September.
On WWL last night, they were predicting Arden Key would be a bust. After a stellar sophomore year in which he was projected as an early first rounder, he became absent from the program, gained weight, ran slow at the pro day and started bragging about his interviews-indicating maturity issues. 3rd rounder maybe. Lots of negatives. http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ss...saints_arden_k.html#incart_river_mobile_index
If some type of substance abuse recovery is why he left the program in the off-season, I can tell you that he's not cured as he seems to claim. It's a lifetime struggle that goes "one day at a time". The most anyone can read into it is the fact that he's not alone...most are in denial and can't be helped because they're not honest enough.
Well my guess is the reasons we were given why Key missed so much time last year were total bullshit. But then we've also been told Kiffin was going to be our offensive coordinator, Matt Canada was the solution to our offensive woes, and Stevie E 'doesn't want to be coordinator.' Hmmmmmmmmm. My guess is Key couldn't have passed a drug test. Now he's bitching and moaning why he can't understand his stock has dropped. Lazy AND clueless. Yeah, that's a top prospect.
Someone compared him to Mathieu; I had concerns about Mathieu making it, but I don’t think he was ever called lazy or fat. I would take Key for chump change, but I’m not spending big money on a guy who dropped off the face of the earth for a year, runs slow, and wonders what the big deal is. I’ll spend my money on a guy with less potential who isn’t likely to fizzle as soon as he gets paid. He’s living like a legend but never amounted to anything more than potential in college. I’ll be surprised if he ever amounts to anything. He seems like Jamarcus Russell, but lazier and more oblivious.
As an Ensign, we were assigned a sailor from a rehab program. My Chief was certain he would not work out. I was equally certain, since he was rehabbed, we could turn him around. First week he showed up late, twice, about mid-day, then did not show up at all. Last seen, on a Saturday morning, running down a pier at Naval Station, San Diego, totally nekked. I chose to take that as a teachable moment. Just saying!
