Why play Brandon LaFell for 4 quarters or 100 plays of a spring game? The 1st unit needs to prove NOTHING. This will be a chance for the 1st team to play 2-3 drives and look sharp, then give way to let the 2's play the 3's. And the people who are borderline 1's and 2's will stay in the game for the duration for these so-called "position battles" that don't really mean a ton in April -- but mean a ton more in August.
Yeah and so could the rest of the head coaches in BCS football. But more of them do it the opposite of miles. Does that make them all wrong too? You can have a discussion about football without making such mind blowing comments as "the head coach of one of the best programs in cfb is better at coaching than you." No kidding? Doesn't mean we all gotta agree with every little thing he does.
All I am saying is that freaking out about the format of an all-LSU football game in April is silly. There is no right or wrong way to do it. All I am saying is that the coaches need to do what is best for LSU -- not what the fans think would be most exciting or entertaining.
1. Sandlot pick a guy doesnt work well because the offensive linemen are all mixed up, some receivers are only x's, and DB's and LB's are used to working with each other. 2. As noted in my quotes by Miles it gives 2nd teamers a chance to show what they can do against 1st teamers. It goes a long way in impressing the coaches before fall. Plus, the first teamers get to work together which is important since you have turnover every year.
Yes I completely freaked out. i got some meds on the way though.:dis: Exactly. However I find no value in beating up on a watered down version of the defense, or vice versa. You want to get the most benefit, you put the best against the best and see what happens, learn from it and make improvements over the bext 4 months. ****this is just my opinion placed here for discussion only. I do not intend to rise up and take over the LSU football universe. Although, that would be cool.
There's a reason they take safety precautions in practice. There's a reason they don't do pre-game warmups at full contact. There's a reason they practice in shells sometimes. There's a reason that starters in the NFL don't play much in their pre-season games. You can play aggresive football while playing 'safe'. You focus on form, angles, and assignments in practice. When it comes to game time.. then it's time to let loose and make plays..
I agree. But there comes a time that you have to see it live and find out what cards you're playing with. That's why it's called the "Spring GAME" and not "the last practice of spring that is open to the public."
Brooks will get a lot of work at SS since he is listed on both teams. I hear that Miles will be switching players around to different teams during the game just like in practice. Jai Eugene is starting over Hawkins.
