Um. I think the white team looks a little superior to the purple team both offensively and defensively.

Yeah. I'm not seeing where this will be helpful to either team. The white team should put up about 900 yards of offense while limiting purple to nothing. Can't be good for the confidence of purple.

I just read an article that pointed out that the white team is comprised of the 1st and 3rd team.

JJ and JL on the same team while RS and CG will play on the other. Kinda strange, but I guess if it were JJ and RS and JL and CG that would be kinda weird, too.

1's vs 2's. No biggie, should be fun to watch.

It will be 1's vs. 2's.

Then when the 1's get up big, it will be the 2's vs. 3's.

Just like they do in practice.

Exactly. this is what I think sucks the most. The spring game is suposed to be the chance for some of the position battle to be decided, for the players to be rewarded with a real game atmosphere for their hard work in the offseason, a chance for the fans to get to see a little taste of whats to come.

This format sucks ass. Nothing more than an open practice for the team, and is lopsided in competition value so there is no glory for the players.

I hate that we don't sandlot it up and let two captains pick teams and line up and play a game.

I just don't see how this format is beneficial at all other than using it as just another practice.

I like the format really.. no use in getting your starters hurt. Don't kid yourselves.. our 2nd team defense is every bit as physically gifted as our 1st team. They lack experience.. and every bit of 'game' speed experience they can get.. they need. Playing with the cards stacked against you will give you a sense of pride.

Purple team has R. Shep... he'll eat up some yardage. I think he'll be their leading rusher.

    agree.

no need to be ultra competitive in a spring game. it's pointless.

I know for fan excitement, it'd be better to see a full-fledged game, but the 1st time an ACL would pop or a concussion would occur, people would go nuts.

These comments are crazy. You can never, ever, ever, step on the football field for a practice or a game or whatever and PLAN to not get hurt.

If you are kicking the crap out of someone in a real game sure you protect your key players, but that's it.

I'll bet you a million bucks the players would rather it the other way. They are athletes and being ultra competitive is all they ever want to be.

I'll bet you a million bucks Les Miles knows how to run a team better than you, me and all of the players.
