High school coaches don't know much when it comes to pitch counts. I've caught warm up for over 20 girls over the last 7-8 years and none of them is accurate when it comes to what they've pitched. We would get to 20 and they would think they'd done 50. If your friend wasn't the "A" pitcher then sure, she can throw more than most because practice isn't full velocity. What is "a lot" to someone not keeping count isn't numericaly accurate. Throwing every day of the year is a waste. Everyone needs time off and so does their arm. I've made that swing many times and whiffed. Remember, it's about .45 seconds between release and the time the batter has to begin reaction. A really good rise looks to be coming in right in the zone and only rises at the end. I watched 3 Bama games this season. 2 vs Auburn and one vs Tennessee. The losses this season (minus the Auburn series) seem to come from a lack of run support.
Coming from someone that struck out more than i made contact...that ball looks big because it's closer to your eyes. You think you can hit it, but you can't. Unless you're looking for a high pitch, you won't hit it...unless you're one of the greats. And there are no great hitters on this board.
She would throw for an hour before school then 2 hours after school. plus warmup for practice and they didn't hit from machines. She and another girl would throw batting practice. In your expert opinion...is it possible that she threw 200 pitches a day? times 7 equals 1400 a week?
