LSU will play the winner of Arizona-Minnesota. MN has to beat AZ twice so probably AZ. Why is LS U always matched up with teams from A Z in the playoffs?
I've been following softball, pretty closely, since the late '90's. I don't recall ever seeing a team play three times in the same day. Two, yes, when coming out of the losers bracket. When did that happen? I'd love to look at that bracket again. Keilani Ricketts. They rode her (damn, perish that thought!!!) to the title in 2013 but lost in 2012 with the same approach. In 2012, it wasn't physical exhaustion that did them it; it was mental. Speaking of mental exhaustion... Bianka Bell...how worn out do you think she was after yesterday's game? The PTB in the NCAA couldn't have wished for a better story line for a Sunday afternoon. Incredible day for that young lady.
Yesterday's second game was as entertaining a womens sporting event not named volleyball that I have ever watched. When Bell came through with the walk-off hit I literally jumped out of my seat. The game was very fast paced and well played. I am looking forward to seeing how they fare in the Super Regional.
You're missing one of the better sports programs out there. It's surpassed SEC baseball, slightly, when it comes to sports entertainment.
You're absolutely right. My father in law is an official so I never was really into it until I started watching with him a few years ago, and it's more entertaining than baseball, college and pros if you ask me.
I agree. And there is no such thing as taking your time on a throw in fastpitch softball. Everything happens lightning fast.
I agree. Pitchers these days are throwing around 145 pitches/game. No way they can do 3 games in one day. Teams rely on a decent rotation during the season but as they get to season-end and conference championships, they start to go with 1 pitcher as often as possible to get them ready for regionals. You might see a starter for game 1, who then comes in as relief in game 2. In the finals, a single pitcher might take on both games, or have little relief. By the time you get to the WCWS, there are only 8 teams left and it's double elimination. They don't play 3 games in a day. In 2012, LSU lost to Cal at the WS and played out of the loser bracket, eventually playing 2 games on the same day, but lost the 2nd and was eliminated. I'm guessing Fico pitched but Mack was a solid reliever too. Almost every NC rides on a dominant pitcher. Traina, Ricketts, Rogers, Escobedo, Lawrie recently and they rarely, if ever, repeat. It's just too difficult and their arms/shoulders go to shit....see Escobedo. Auburn sure is loving Myers' move to Auburn. Major turn around of that program.
It wouldn't shock me, think about it, the wear and tear from natural motion isn't nearly the same as it is from unnaturally throwing a pitch over handed.
