LSU Fr. pitcher, Casey Fail, from Kershaw South Carolina, notched her first shutout as she allowed 4 hits and had 5 strikeouts lthrough seven as she led the #12 Lady Tigers to a 3-0 win over Nichols St. in front of a hostile crowd at the Colonel Diamond Wednesday. As a high school player, she broke the South Carolina state career record for strikeouts with 1720 ... Broke the state record for strikeouts in a season with 520 as a junior before coming just two strikeouts shy of her record with 518 as a senior ... Posted six perfect games and 10 no-hitters as a senior as part of a 30-4 record with a 0.35 earned run average ... Threw a perfect game in the Class AA lower state playoff championship win over Bishop England High School. Rachael Mitchell went yard for the third time this season with a two out shot out of straight center. This weekend our girls open up SEC play as they host Georgia in a three game series, looking to improve on their 21-4 record. The doubleheader Saturday will see a 1:00 p.m start for the first game and the conclude with the final game at 1:00 pm. on Sunday. Fans wearing gold on Saturday will get in for free and the first game will be carried regionally by Cox Sports TV in Baton Rouge on cable channel 37.
