Josh Jasper Kicker Memphis (TN) Ridgeway Ht: 6-foot-0 Wt: 165 lbs Forty: 4.5 secs Bench max: 260 pounds GPA: 3.3 Class: 2007 (High School) I know the kicking game is important but I can't believe we are using up two scholarship offers on kickers in one class.
Think about 03 & 04 when we had to cringe before every extra point attempt. With a good kicker, we probably wouldn't have lost to Auburn in 04. It is an important part of the team. This guy is supposed to handle extra points & field foals I think, while the other guy does punts & kick offs.
well lsu had a good recruit this year, ross thevenot, and didnt offer him a scholarship, they wanted him to walk on, well tulane did. And so far he hit two 47 yard field goals in the scrimmage and nailed two 52 yarders to end a practice so the team didnt have to run. Also he will be starting kickoff where he has been kicking them out of the endzone consistantly. Way to go LSU
And the 2 we got are both better than him. I think you meant, "Way to Geaux LSU!" without the sarcasm.
I agree that it's important to have a good kicker but two in one class when Colt David is only a sophomore? And why do you need a separate kicker for kick-offs?
Colt is a walk-on who only kicks extra points. We would've only had one scholarship kicker next year. 2 in one class does seem like 1 too many to me, but Miles & Peveto really stress the special teams as an important part of the team so I think they know what they are doing.
I could care less what some player can do in practice, let's see him do it on the field against quality competition in a game that means something, then I might be impressed.
2003: Saban signed Chris Jackson and Patrick Fisher in the same class. Exact same situation, a kicker and a punter.
Well then I guess that settles it. Due to the similarities, LSU will win the national championship this season! :hihi:
