disagree; Houston and Dallas football players are equal in quality and Houston players ae more likely to sign w/ LSU. The Dallas stadium will be nice but will not make reliant "old news"
Arkansas versus LSU in Dallas the day after Thansgiving wouldn't work well as there's a decent shot one of the two will play in the Cotton Bowl a month later. If LSU were to sign a contract to play there (and I hope they don't) it needs to be against a team we're unlikely to see during a bowl match-up. *Pac-1, Big East, and most Big 10 schools are too far away to drive *Texas schools wouldn't want to play *Oklahoma already plays there *Notre Dame will play there I think you're limited to maybe Nebraska, Missouri, and a few other teams. We'd be better off scheduling a tough home and home series than playing in Dallas each year. Playing Houston on the road occasionally wouldn't hurt.
When the current BCS contract expires, look for Dallas and Atlanta to each make a run at becoming one of the top four. I don't know if the NCAA is interested in expanding the rotation but if not, the current bowls could be in jeopardy of losing their status. I just hope it's not the Sugar Bowl. I don't believe there's a better place to play than New Orleans considering the venue, accessibility, food, lodging, transportation, and entertainment. Considering the geography of Dallas and Altanta, some would suggest New Orleans may be the one to get squeezed out. That would be a shame as I think it's the best bowl site. The sellouts and huge payout from the Chick-fil-A Bowl and the new stadium in Dallas will be big selling points for those two.
I always stop in Natchitoches for food and gas. I take 190 to Baton Rouge, because my parents live in Watson, so I just take Airline to Greenwell Springs Road. I-10 would be out of the way for me.
Lets see, metroplex has SL Carroll, Highland Park, Euless Trinity, Colleyville Heirtage, Dallas Carter, Allen, Aledo, Everman, Ennis, Stephenville, the Arlington schools, Celina, the list is huge and more players will qualify off the bat. You can never go wrong adding a major population area to a recruiting base. If they spend so much time in S Florida where they must fly to recruit players and still deal with Florida schools then why not drive to DFW and fight with the Big 12 for DFW players. Bottom line there is a decent amount of money going to LSU from this area and the alumni here deserve a game other than the every 10 years Cotton Bowl. I did LSU career nights for 10 years in Tarrant County, there is a reason LSU now has a fulltime academic recruiter living in the area. :geaux:
Hey, TCUTiger, you left Plano off your list! By the way, a LOT of Plano kids go to LSU. This year, I'm teaching former RB Victor Jones' youngest daughter. Her older sister is a freshman @ LSU. Also, what are the dates for the home-and-home with TCU?
Stacy O you are very right and I am very wrong!! Plano does supply most of the LSU students from this area year to year and they have VERY GOOD HS football. Sorry.:geaux: I think TCU LSU is 2012 and on, not sure. I know they are very excited and let the Big 12 teams that refuse home/home know all about it.
Never driven to Dallas but I've driven to Natchitoches countless times. If you think that part of the drive is interesting, the only way you'll get me to Dallas is to tie me up and stick me in the trunk!
