Forget the distractions, forget the injuries. You saw the emotion with which CLM spoke to the media on Monday. Imagine the passion he's using to motivate his players inside the Tiger locker room! And imagine how ferociously the Tigers are going to respond! Friday is senior day. They won't be denied by an Arkansas team that has two or three great players. As for the SEC Championship Game, this is Reason #1 why Glenn Dorsey postponed wealth and returned to the purple and gold. He'd have to be crippled not to dominate whoever is unfortunate enough to face the LSU Tigers! :milesmic:
I don't know if it is just me; I just have a somewhat uncomfortable feeling about the defense. It just seems like the defense suddenly looked "porous". Even LA Tech was able to advance the ball quite a bit against the defense. Is it due to scheme issues, injuries and/or fatique? I do hope the defense puts out a more dominating performance. Offense this year has more firepower and has been productive.
Understand the feeling. This helps me feel better though. #4 in rushing defense #9 in pass defense #9 in scoring defense #2 in total defense Tied at #3 in turnover margin. Keep the faith.
He's usually optimistic before the game. That's why he gets so let down after we only win by a small margin. I like to think it will be close, that way I'm happy either way.
I'm new here today, so let me start by saying hello to everyone. Howdy! As for your post, I know just what you mean. The Tigers have terrific talent on defense and great stats, but sometimes they seem to do dumb things that just kill them. I still haven't gotten over the roughing the passer when we were up 17-3 at 'Bama, that turned the game around. I'd really like to see them play a mistake free game and get some serious momentum going before the CG. But after all, Arkansas is a middling team that LSU should dominate, and if they can't and somehow get beaten by the Hogs, then they don't deserve to play for the national title anyway. Don't see that happening though, especially if Dorsey is halfway healthy and keeps the middle closed to McFadden.:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
I wise man once said, "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst." In this case, best=him no play, worst = him do play.
Someone needs to go show this to Mark Schlabach over at ESPN, since he apparently thinks our D has lost a step. I can't quite shake the feeling that LSU is due for a breakout game on both sides of the ball. If the D can hold Arky's offense at bay (#21 overall, I think) and the O keeps putting up the points, LSU will be VERY tough to beat down the stretch.
There's no doubt that our defense isn't playing as good as they were the first 3 games, but I really believe injuries have slowed us down. I thiink during the Ole Miss game Al Woods and Drake Nevis are both on the field at the same time. Those two are going to be great, but they aren't Dorsey and Alexander at this time. I don't know why people pull out the defense rankings because the way our D is performing now versus the Va Tech game, is significant. A more accurate measurement would be our ranking against other teams over the past 2-3 games. The good news is we are pretty good at stopping the run and with Arkansas's lackluster passing game, that plays in our favor. I wonder though if we will get key players back healthy like Beckwith, Dorsey and Marlon. Besides that, the best and maybe most important stat is we have been forcing key turnovers.
