I know this is a little early for this, but I was thinking about the possibility of Scott going pro this year, and it got me thinking about our RB situation if that were to happen. More specifically, where will Michael Ford fit in next year? I assume Keiland will be around for his SR year, but behind him we'll only have Richard, who will be a JR, Ridley, who will be a SO, and the true freshmen. Are we expecting Ford to be able to carry a signif. portion of the load?
Assuming Scott does not go pro (a pretty safe assumption), I don't see Ford or Pratt getting PT. Now, if we sign 3 RB's in this class (CM or TR), then one of the 3 would likely play some.
I know Scott personally and I have not gotten the impression he will go this year. Unless he just absolutely blows it up and the press jumps on him again towards the end of the year. That is certainly possible but he has to really pile on the yards to go high in the draft this year. So many backs getting press right now.
IMO, Scott will need to prove a lot as a college RB because he will not have a real impressive 40 time at the combine. I also get the impression he's a pretty team-oriented guy, which lends itself to him coming back.
Could work out better for recruiting. Better to have 2 seniors who are graduating getting most of the carries, than to have some sophomore become the feature back and scare off recruits. Although recruits are probably smart enough to look at depth charts.
