I think I can humbly say, best OOC game this year, provided we win. Looking at your OOC schedule, just now, getting your color combo right, may provide your sternest test this season. Not blaming you. I know most fans wish their teams would tighten it up.
Teams don't want to come to Autzen. Georgia cancelled, Tennessee is still on for next year but they've been balking. We played LSU last year because Kansas State chickened out. This year we play Arkansas State, not Utah, because the game clashed with the new PAC12 schedule and was cancelled. The Ducks want to be seen but scheduling's tough, maybe the new sos rules will help. Oregon is going to open the season like gangbusters, we're going to be a real sensation I think, but against inferior opponents. The PAC's on the rise, nonetheless, the Ducks will be basically untested until game 9.
I salute your fighting Duck optimism and willingness to be critical. Not sure all the east coast teams need to be the programs that make for a strong SOS in amongst the Quackers. Bama has had many teams trying to get on the neutral game bandwagon. Maybe with the recent exception of Wisconsin. But I think their beef was more about wanting a home and home series. Glad to hear that the Pac 12 is up and coming, but no one in dixieland will ever, ever, say, that they expect to wait for week 9 to get tested. By that time most conference teams start resembling ground chuck. By the time the Ducks suit up for game 9, I sense everyone in the SEC are going to be ready for some much needed attrition in the BCS poll. Besides, it was a good game last year against southern cal coming down the stretch. Your running backs look good and with the strength of your team being the fertile mind of Kelly, all your speed merchants just want a little space and as always, they will get it. Don't see why you just don't use a dual QB system and be done with it. With the running spread and some iffy wide receivers, I'd play them both. But man, that schedule is a weakness. Oregon ain't getting BCS love, if at the end of this thing, all things are equal. The Ducks need to be perfect with this schedule. Look forward to your reports, and lots of PICTURES.
Yup,.. it's true, new unis this year. Like the "metal plate" theme before it, the "wings" 4 year span is over, it's time to move on. Don't know what's coming,.. hope they're great, but if not,.. only have to watch em play in the worst stuff once. It's encouraging that last year they looked fantastic. Would love to see it, but don't see it happening, we'll have to meet at a neutral site. Most of the Duck's future Big ooc games, will be home and away against Big10 teams. It sucks, but there's not much incentive to increase risks, by making ooc schedules harder. It's too bad cream puff scheduling makes sense and prevails, there's gotta be a way to encourage great match-ups. .................... Red, something I've wondered for a while. What dragged you to John Day, Oregon? .Were you kidnapped?
I think home and away series are great, and neutral sites are the next best thing. The fans aren't being consulted though,.. it looks like Duck fans are gonna be stuck with ooc schedules which have,.. 1 game medium to hard, 1 game easy, 1 game too easy. Yeah the PAC is rising,.. but has a long way to go. TV $$$ has brought new coaches and facilities, and I sense a determination to become a top conference. Might be able to scrape 5 top 25 teams together, but with 4 new coaches, the PAC teams are going to be mostly mediocre/good this year. The future looks bright. Game nine @ USC on Nov. 3rd is going to be something. With no other losses, I think the losing team can still make the National Championship Game by winning the PAC Championship Game. Chip claims to be a one QB coach, but he's a schemer. I think Oregon will be more pass heavy this year, maybe camps will spread some light.
A few weeks ago when I was looking at UT's OOC schedule I noticed the Ducks were scheduled next season. I saw Michigan State there as well, but no other B1G teams. With the PAC and B1G's "agreement" being tabled a few weeks ago which teams outside of Sparty are you guys playing?
The way I understand it, even though the Big10/PAC12 scheduling pact is no more, PAC and Big10 schools will continue to favor scheduling one another. The alliance failed primarily because USC and Stanford, who play Notre Dame every year, considered it too binding and unworkable. The link in my post you cited shows the Duck's future ooc schedule. Oregon has home and away games with Michigan St in 2013/14 and with Texas A&M in 2018/19. There are plenty of spots open, schedule will probably be filled by Big10 teams and creampuffs.
