Right and that is why I agree with most analysts that say that polls shouldn't even come out until about the 4th week of the season...the BCS polls were just about perfect on that. But my guess is most of us know why does not occur like that. How would they ever promote "IT'S NUMBER 2 ALABAMA VERSUS NUMBER 8 MICHIGAN IN PRIME TIME!" or whatever in the 1st game played by both teams. :) Forget the probability that Michigan doesn't even belong in the top 20 which IMO will be proven soon enough.

i don't think Bama v Michigan is going to draw a lot of interest, because most people don't expect it to be a good game, just another Alabama blow-out (same thing Bama did to Penn State in 2011 and 2010, to Virginia Tech in 2009, and to Clemson in 2008). i think it will be similar to 2007 when LSU vs Virginia Tech was the marquee early September game, and that didn't draw a lot of interest, either (although it was the same day as Miami @ #5 Oklahoma, Oregon @ Michigan and #19 TCU @ #7 Texas)

i think 2012, like 2007, is a down year for marquee early September games, which does suck because we've been spoiled with at least one good one every other year in recent history:

    2011
#1 Oklahoma at #5 Florida State -- 9.3 Million viewers (#1 most watched non-conference regular season game of the season)
#4 LSU vs. #3 Oregon -- 7.8 Million viewers (#2 most watched non-conference regular season game of the season)

    2010
#3 Boise State at #5 Virginia Tech -- 9.9 Million viewers (#1 most watched non-conference regular season game of the season)

    2009
#3 USC at #6 Ohio State -- 10.6 Million viewers (#1 most watched non-conference regular season game of the season)

    2008
#2 Ohio State @ #1 USC -- 11.8 Million viewers (#1 most watched non-conference regular season game of the season)

    2007
    #9 Virginia Tech @ #2 LSU (LSU won 48-7) -- 3.7 Million viewers

    2006
    #1 Ohio State @ #2 Texas -- 9.1 Million viewers

Yep. I don't know if you watched the Michigan vs Virginia Tech Sugar Bowl but VT should have won that game by 17 points (just remembering my opinion at the time). Double the yardage...double the first downs..almost double time of possession. One of the great mysteries of college football is how you can score 23 points, have no defensive or special teams TDS, and only have like 184 in total yards. That is what Michigan did to win 23-20 in OT. I watched the game and can't remember how they even did it. I do remember VT missing quite a few FGs I think and playing the entire game in Michigan territory. I guess it was similar to the first LSU game against Alabama except more scoring. But the team that dominated the stats and pitched a tent on the other's team side of the field didn't win the game.

Seriously doubt it since the LSU vs Alabama game was the LEAST watched BCS NC game since the NC game came into existence. The bad news for LSU is that we didn't win the NC. The good news for LSU fans is that few people knew that it occured.

When the SEC gets to conference play I'm all eyes and ears. Not sure anyone on your must see list would matter more. However, out of respect for GDF, I'm not going to make fun of the Ducks uniforms, as much.

mmm, West Virginia actually cancelled vs Florida State, and paid Florida State half a million dollars because of it. had something to do with West Virginia going to the Big 12
