Nope, those terms simply referred to two completely different items. Current refers to an individual team of essentially "now" timeframe with those players. Historical includes more teams than just LSU or Alabama or Georgia or Texas. Historical includes all teams playing at least from the start of the modern era.
closest ever. and first time the #2 (and also #3) had more first place votes than #1. i assume this means that bama #1 voters put so cal #3 and and so cal #1 voters put bama #3
I didn't think what a team did or didn't do two seasons ago would have any bearing whatsoever on the coming season, but wtf do I know.
what is interesting is to look at the 1st place votes: 20 -- Alabama (1,399 total points) 19 -- USC (1,388 total points) 18 -- LSU (1,403 total points) 1 -- Oklahoma 1 -- FSU
47 teams got votes, this is how they break down by conference: SEC #1 LSU (1,403) #2 Bama (1,399) #6 Georgia (1,061) #9 South Carolina (981) #10 Arkansas (948) #23 Florida (250) #25 Auburn (66) #30 Texas A&M (28) #33 Miss State (21) #43t Missouri (3) #43t Tennessee (3) Big XII #4 Oklahoma (1,276) #11 West Virginia (833) #15 Texas (549) #17 TCU (499) #19 Oklahoma State (476) #21 Kansas State (398) #31 Baylor (23) #47 Texas Tech (1) ACC #7 FSU (1,055) #14 Clemson (598) #20 Virginia Tech (461) #28 Georgia Tech (35) #35 NC State (11) #38 UVA (9) Pac #3 USC (1,388) #5 Oregon (1,258) #18 Stanford (497) #26 Washington (64) #32 Utah (22) Big Ten #8 Michigan (1,023) #12 Wisconsin (743) #13 Mich State (717) #16 Nebraska (501) Big East #27 Louisville (46) #29 Cincinnati (32) #34 South Florida (12) #41t Rutgers (5) C-USA #39 Houston (7) #40 Southern Miss (6) #41t UCF (5) Independent #24 Notre Dame (166) #36t BYU (10) MWC #22 Boise State (271) WAC #36t La Tech (10) Sun Belt #43t Florida International (3) MAC #46 Northern Illinois (2)
I'm surprised Urban Meyer, QB Braxton Miller, and Ohio State didn't get a single vote... esp since they return 9 starters on a defense that was the #19 total D and #27 scoring D last year, and they return 7 starters from an offense that was the #27 rushing offense in the NCAA last year... as for their passing game, it was atrocious last year (#115 in the nation), but their QB was a true freshman last year, splitting time with a mediocre-at-best senior, and he looks like he is going to be pretty good: 85 of 157 (54.1%), 1,159 yards passing, 13 TD, 4 INT -- plus 715 yards rushing and 7 rushing TD
won't last long, ND's schedule is: away games #13 Mich State (Game 3) -- Spartan Stadium (capacity 75,005) #4 Oklahoma (Game 8) -- Oklahoma Memorial Stadium (capacity 82,112) #3 Southern Cal (Game 12) -- Los Angeles Coliseum (capacity 93,607) Boston College -- Alumni Stadium (capacity 44,500) home games (all on NBC) #8 Michigan (Game 4) #18 Stanford (Game 6) #36 BYU (Game 7) Purdue Pitt Wake Forest neutral field games Miami -- at Soldier Field in Chicago (on NBC) Navy -- in Dublin, Ireland
