keep in mind that this dude didn't start playing the position until his jr season in high school. i think he'll continue to improve. you can't go from being nothing to an SEC caliber QB in just three years. this dude's a leader. this dude's got a great attitude. it's unfortunate for him that he has to beat out anyone on the team much less jefferson. and yeah, i think that he could do. but right now, i just have faith in CLM to put the best guy on the field.
Back on topic and away from the drama queens - Miles has made it clear that JJ is the starter. He'd be a fool not to encourage JL - both to push JJ and to get JL ready. Because it's likely he'll be needed. I hope JJ has an amazing season. At this point, however, he's still very much an open book.
From this morning's Advocate: Older and Wiser: Tigers QBs gain experience under fire in ’08 On Lee: On Jefferson: On the position:
The article in the paper states something I agree with. We will see Jarrett Lee. I'd like to think that JJ is the end all be all, but hey, he's played 2.5 games. So lets hope that Lee has improved and learned about forcing balls and zeroing in on recievers, because there's a good chance we'll need him at some point. But we'll be better at QB regardless.
what are we really debating here, no one has done anything, yet. Jefferson has his shot, just like Lee had his shot last year. Lee will play this season no doubt about that and I hope he plays better. Because that means success for LSU. One guy over another at this point is crap.
It's gettin close fellas. I'm looking forward to a much improved defense this year...a much more serious problem last year than the QB situation because it involved something more serious than a lack of experience or sporadic performance... ...It involved something much more dangerous than anything to a team... ...It involved quitters who were on the field...........flat...out...quitters! I've never seen that before on an LSU team...ever! But pass the purple kool aid...It's a new year and I think you can bank on that :geauxtige :LSU231: :tigereye: LSU!
Where were you in the Curley Hallman era? Seriously, who quit last year and are they still here this year?
I kind of got lost in the Curly Hallman era...didn't follow the team much other than looking at a few games that were on TV...so I guess I qualify as a quitter. But I never quit being a fan or anything. As far as the defense last year, Just look at the Arkansas game. There was all that dissention, finger pointing with LSU players getting in each others faces...gloating at their own teammates mistakes at the end of the game. That didn't just come out of the blue at the end of the second half or at the end of the season. As dumb as Rahim Alem kicking the ball for a penalty that gave Arky the win was, in all fairness, I think it was partly out of frustration at what was going on with his own teammates that culminated in that game. He never quit and by all accounts is an outstanding person. To me it was so obvious that there was poison in the locker room last year that there is no need to single out a single player or two. In past posts, I referred to it as "the ghost of Ryan Perrilloux" because he wasn't the only player that was disruptive. Remember the two players who got kicked off the team for vandalizing a students car in a bar rage incident? I'm sure what was made public is a fraction of the real problems. All that disruption is a form of quitting...giving up on the team. The coaches and players know who was involved and that will stay in the locker room. If they're still on the team, I'm sure it won't happen this year...Players can turn over a new leaf...and Miles won't let it!!
