If you ever enter a season "expecting" to do anything but try your hardest to win the starting spot, you don't have the attitude it takes to win.

This is the one thing that concerns me the most about JL. Everyone likes to think that all of his mistakes are coachable, and many of them are. This is something that can't be completely coached. At some point the light bulb has to switch on in his own mind, and this was an area where Jefferson appeared to be miles ahead of Lee last year. One thing I can agree with you on is that none of us knows for sure whether that light has turned on until JL's feet are held to the fire in an actual game. It'll be interesting to see whether he gets more than just mopup duty for the first 3 games.

As do I. But I think in the back of a lot of people's minds is whether Lee will be the Josh Booty to Jefferson's Rohan Davey. That's still a somewhat fresh memory to me, and coming off a 8-5 season, that may be making some people more antsy than usual.

You act like no other QB has done this in the history of football. I distinctly remember a redshirt JR, future #1 pick doing this against tennessee in 06 and leading us out of the hole and he was praised for his leadership skills... Lee did it as a redshirt freshman for our first win at auburn in ages.

Lee def has all the tools to be starting QB, just needs to work on game awareness because the offense does run pretty good with him at QB. Only if he's not giving the other team points though.

bradford and mccoy didnt get pressured like lee did. maybe not every game, but he got nailed numerous times against Auburn. tx and ou dont have anything to worry about in conf except each other.---especially on the defensive side of the ball.

When did these guys play in the SEC?

I guess it's "hip" now to hate Lee. I got nothin but love for JL. I think he had a rough year, but I won't write him off to be a terrible qb. Maybe I'm optimistic, who knows? But I don't think that he hasn't gotten to be a better quarterback.

I'm starting to smell an "awesome" poser just making trouble for LSU fans here.

there's not a ton of LSU fans in Austin, TX.

And the reference to the Big 12 and their QBs has me fishy and smelling beef.

But I'm not a detective for a living.
